Corlato injury update

Apologies if it's been posted elsewhere, I've not seen it if it has, but there's an update on Corlato's injury. Not good news sadly.

British Show Jumping can now confirm that Fresh Direct Corlato sustained a serious tendon injury whilst competing in Calgary, Canada last week. Preparations are currently being made for her return flight home.

Tim Stockdale commented:

“Every plan at the moment is about bringing her home; once she is back we can look for the best way forward in terms of her care and treatment”.

Further updates will follow as information becomes available.

Oh no. It's been one dreadful news story after another on here this week.

Fingers crossed for her and Tim. (((((((((((())))))))))))

maybe with stem cell treatment etc they'll get her back on the road again, i'm sure she'll have the best possible care. gutting for Tim though.
i know it's small consolation but at least she's a mare so she's got another job to do if she doesn't come back to jumping. they'll be lining up for her foals...
 
I really hope you're right, came on to see if their is any update on her condition this morning but I felt the BSJA statement was very carefully worded yesterday and wonder whether she will indeed come home let alone jump again?
 
Terrible news - feel desperately sorry for Tim and the mare. I read the BSJA statement in the same way as the poster above. However, let's not jump to any conclusions but just wait and see and hope for the best.
 
On the other hand - this is from the Irish Independent and Louise Parkes is a reliable journo. I don't have the link as I was sent it by email. Not good, and Ruby not the only one ....

"...... the British, who were reduced to a three-man side following Thursday's tragic tendon injury that looks likely to have ended the career of Tim Stockdale's Olympic mare Corlato.

She was joined in the Spruce Meadows veterinary clinic by Angelique Hoorn's stallion Blauwendraad's O'Brien which suffered a similar injury as Dutch pathfinder on Saturday."
 
John Bosher, her owner will be devastated too. He bought her as a youngster and almost always goes to watch her jump. At least they already know she is a good patient - she was good as gold when recovering from bad fall at a water jump (same time as Tim broke ribs). And yes if she can't compete again, she'll be well looked after, as is Parcival (Tim's 2002 WEG partner who had a career ending cruciate injury).
 
I would like to thank everybody for their support, any injury at any level is tough to get through, this has been a very serious blow to my owner John Bosher, my sponsors Fresh Direct and all my team. Ruby is a fantastic horse and such fighter, we are hoping she makes a fast recovery. She has had a good flight and will now be making her way home slowly from the airport. We will make sure she has the very best care possible. Thanks again for all your messages of support. Tim Stockdale
 
Such a shame for you Tim, I have no doubt she will be receiving the best care possible, but that doesn't lessen the blow any at all

I have watched Ruby's career with great enthusiasm and always enjoyed her attitude to her work. Please keep us updated with her progress.
 
we are all very sorry to hear it was a bad one, I think everyone hoped originally it was just a twaek or an overreach and we will keep fingers crossed. Thanks for your message though. We should all spare a thought for Angelique Hoorn as well who must also be distraught and I am gald the Dutch won the Nations Cup in the end as you would like to think she might have felt a little better about the whole thing then,
 
That is so good to hear that she is heading home, she is a star for British show jumping, and obviously yourselves and whatever course her career takes will wish her well
 
Sadly it does happen despite the best efforts of the grounds men. I think sometimes when we are watching on TV we forget the size of the fences they jump in a top show jump class. No one would be surprised at two tendon injuries after Badminton even on the best footing and a top show jump meeting is similar exertion. Thanks again though Tim for letting us know.
