Hi all, can someone please post a photo of correctly fitted and angled spurs, my spurs keep slipping too low so I'm not sure if the straps are too low aswell? I've ordered some rubber guards for them to see if that helps, but I think some visuals would also help me!!

My long boots (which I ride in daily cause I cant ride in chaps!) dont have any spur rests on them which I dont think is helping the situation! Any other suggestions for stopping slipping spurs??

I do not have a photo, or one that is close-up enough that you can see, but my long boots also have no spur rests and they do not slip. They're Sprenger's with the rubber, and I thinkt hat makes a difference. You can play with adjusting your strap a bit, and use the rubber guard then see what happens. Unless the spurs are unusually wide.

Try closing the part of the spur that goes round the boot. Might need a bit of brute force to do it. The spur should then fit more snuggly on the boot and make sure the strap is tight. Thats what ive done to mine!! Its a bugbear of mine seeing riders with low spurs, it means you cant use the your leg or the spur correctly.

yeah I have had to adjust all my spurs slightly, some have been too narrow (ouch) and some too wide. the rubber doo dahs do help with security though i find they need taping on to stay put reliably.

I find most people don't wear them high enough. If they are high enough (with enough leather strap underneath) and done up to a sensible tightness, then they don't slip. I have never had to use rubber doo dars. If they are high enough, I sometimes have to widen them out so they don't nip.

The spur should sit on the seam of the boot and horizontal to the ground, I think a lot of people forget that. Also a lot of people don't have their straps done up tightly enough causing the spur to droop. I can't stand to see badly worn spurs. Along with long messy hair/ saggy, baggy buns (and don't start me on scrunchies in adult hair)

Seam of the boot depends of how they are constructed though. If i had mine on the seam they'd be impossible to use properly, somewhere over my ankle instead of on my foot.
I mainly ride in swan necks but had these on earlier, they don't move, I hate the nylon straps but they are perfectly adjustable which helps stability.
