My boys got a bit of colic again :( vets been out to him and apparently he is better. Just worrying as last time as soon as the painkillers wore off he went downhill again and spent 3 days in the equine hospital :(

Wish I could see him but im stuck at uni until Saturday and he's at home

Also worrying there's nothing underlying causing this colic again :(

Please can he have some vibes, hoping the painkillers will work for good this time and he'll settle

Loads of vibes. I lost my homebred gelding to colic earlier this year, I'd hate for anyone else to have to experience that. Best wishes that it's just a bit of a grumble and nothing serious.

Thank you both - I bet if I was there with him I wouldn't be worrying half as much.

He is in very good hands though. Just hard when he's a couple of hundred miles away :(

ETS he always waits until I'm away! Last time I was coming home from badminton

Vibes on the way :(

My old mare used to colic with alarming regularity. No tests ever got to the bottom of it. We just had a yard full of lovely people that got used to the warning signs and we always managed to get the vet there before she got too bad.

It's a terrible worry and I totally understand how horrible it is when you are not there. Hugs xx

Oh no. I really hope he's okay. We lost a grey to colic a month ago due to internal melanomas. Sending him healing vibes. Colic is such a worry. I have known several horses regularly colic and still be okay after many years, and then others where it is far more serious. Does the vet know what type of colic it is? Are there any gut sounds or droppings?

All other times it has been spasmodic - very noisy gut, bloated, digging up his bed, up and down a lot. Not sure which it is this time but guessing it's the same

Thank you for all the vibes - YO is keeping me updated regularly

Hopefully he will be fine then. I wonder what sets him off? The most worrying type of colic is when there are no gut noises.

This is what has been stumping me too there is nothing really that we can think off that stands out.

He has a blocked tearduct that requires flushing every few months but last time he colicked (early May) the vet said it was unlikely to be related. Other than that I can't think of anything

An Update
Vets been out again and given more buscopan and tubed him. Did a rectal and nothing abnormal, apparently he's just getting a bit stressed with himself. His guts are extremely noisy, not a huge amount of gas either.

My yard owner really is a godsend and is going to monitor him for me tonight

Well that sounds promising . . . fingers crossed the meds worked and he settles . . . must be so worrying for you not being there.

P

Gut noises sound promising. Stay positive, I know how hard it is not being there when your horse is unwell, you just feel so helpless.

Not heard anything for a while which I'm taking as good news. Will keep you updated as soon as I hear anything

Thank you so much for all being here for us it's made this so much more bearable

((((Vibes)))) for Kenny and you. Sounds like he is being well looked after. It must be hard not to worry when you are away though. Hugs. X
