please comment if like me you own one of the most amazing breeds of horse in the world a cob! my boy is 11yr old and I've had him since he was 4 months he is my best friend and the most amazing horse tbh he has protected me from another horse trying to kill me and he can jump 4 and half foot with ease! I could go on all day but I won't lol I love my boy cobs really are the best breeds ps my cob isn't the stereo typical plod he is highly strung does excitable bucks springs off the floor on all fours and is very forward going and he looks like a cow lol!!! tell me about your beautiful cobs now please

Yah!

I love my cow, he's nicknamed Mary :)

He may be useless to some, he may be 'ugly' and he may be 'just a fat cob'

But he's my big cuddly cob who is also my best chum!

And I couldn't be prouder!

agreed - my cob is nicknamed big bum but he can do everything, is cheap to keep - can run in the field without breaking his legs, is funny and the best horse on my yard!!!
He is not in his stable every week on bloody box rest - when the hacking out wimps get scared he leads them - he doesnt mind being out alone - no stressing ie cribbing or weaving -ive seen tbs on my yard - so expensive, fall apart at slightest thing - not my boy - i love my brave boy cob!!!!

Cobs are lovely, I've never understood why so many people dislike them.

ps i hope this has worked lol

I love my boy! He's full of character and never fails to make you smile every day! Mine, like yours, also loves jumping and has done 4'6" :D super bombproof and nicknamed 'the bulldozer' :D

Have to admit that a coloured cob would be the last thing I'd want to own, not my thing. But they are very cute! :) Great pics.

Still miss mine: a wonderful, forward-going, intelligent, full of life gentleman:

One of my favourite pics of him, after a whole day's ride in the sun, and a bath, and he clearly rolled :-D

I have a cob mare who I have owned for 7 years now! She is the one in my avatar and in my sig! she was the best horse took me from nervous rider to BE, 3de, BSJA, RC champs and 5 trailblazer champs. Could be the biggest B**** going but to ride was a dream you never felt unsafe. Like the OP she wasn't your typical cob I think she had a lot of thoroughbred in her, very highly strung and fast, could never stand still and could make 500mpm optimum times easy! (sorry for the proud post lol) Unfortunately she is now retired as she managed to sustain 3 injuries to her leg resulting in 2 operations and has now developed cushings :( so she has just become a large pet now but the whole family loves her! x

I love my cob, can take him hunting and he is a well mannered forward going ride, or can stick a small child on him and he is a plod and you can see he really loves the kids. Always hack him out if I am having a crap day and he makes me feel better. If you speak to him when he is in his stable he will 'answer' you, so we have conversations! Loves to jump and will quite happily jump up to 3'6. Haven't yet come across anyone who has handled Olly and doesn't love him <3

I had a cob on trial to buy once, it half-killed me, so obviously it went back!

Got run over...literally, by a friends cob, bad-mannered beast....

Been bitten, kicked and thrown off cobs, 'supposedly sane' animals...

My theory is...some people 'assume' they are sweet, kind and loving...so mollycoddle them that much, they become unhinged and lunatics!

I'll stick with my mild-mannered TB's.....Standardbreds....etc etc....

See I love cobs but totally agree with this. Most cobs that are well mannered and behave are cobs that know the boundaries, they have been taught to respect people and they know what is right and wrong. If you assume they are 'dopes on a rope', they probably won't be as it's the handling and training that makes them such.

People would probably call my boy that, but he was absolute terror when I first got him, tanking off at every chance, refusing to be caught, throwing his weight around when he didn't like something. The cob I have now is completely different, but it's because I've put in the work and I think people don't realise that when it comes to cobs. They're just like every other horse, if you don't lay day the ground rules, they will walk all over. And with my rising 4 year old already being a complete chunky monkey at a yard with lots of children, he cannot be rude and throw himself around and he has to have respect. He has his moments, don't they all, but you bring 'em back into line.

I have such respect for people who have brought on a cob that is considered 'dope on a rope' because I understand the work that has gone in to get them there :)

This is my lovely hairy yak of a coblet, currently away being backed. Cannot wait to ride him!
