It’s becoming a surprise when someone isn’t clear within the time .....
I totally agree, I think it ends up being influential if direct routes are too difficult (inexperienced combinations or course designer over egged things) or adverse weather. Otherwise I don't think the odd combination finishing comfortably inside even with a mistake or long route really indicates anything other than that the rider and horse were skilled and fit enough to make up for itShould the time ever be that influential? I know it has been when weather/ground conditions have played a part, but I wouldn't;t expect it to when the going looks to be pretty perfect.
Love Sam Watson’s horse
yes, it's been a bit awkward hasn't it, he is clearly a talented rider and producer of horses to have so many excellent results, hopefully this will be the trend now because he could be an asset to other teams.I think Oliver Townend has done very well with altering his style enough to make it so much more palatable to the public.
Yes burghley is 5 star which means the jumps more technical and higher but should not necessarily be harder in terms of time . Anyone finishing 30s inside the time let alone multiple finishing around that imo suggests in any level of competition the time is too easy .
they'll have to have a sacrificial burning of that flipping bird after all this. Toast some marshmallows etc.
Live scores show vittoria having an eventful round too but we haven't seen it on the screen yet
I agree. Tipping a horse up into water isn't really a good result for a fence. There are other ways to make a fence in the water influentialI think Mike E-S will be kicking himself for that fence, with hindsight it is not a good question and it creates a risk and the sort of pictures and eventing needs to move away from
Are they not they certainly look it !At 5* the jumps are not higher. They can be wider.
5* is harder on time as the course is longer and has more jumping efforts, plus Burghley of course has very undulating terrain.
sounds like a pleasant afternoon Lexi!Feels really odd to be seeing last rider on course this early! Won’t know what to do with myself all afternoon. Probably just continue knitting the never ending jumper of doom and drinking Prosecco.
OH just asked why are the eventers wearing teddy bears on their shoulders - I explained about Wilberry wonder pony and the charity founded by Hannah but why are so many wearing them is it all about support and awareness of the charity ? Or is there a donation every time a Wilberry sets out on the x country course ?
SAP have said they will donate 500 euros if the winner is wearing a wilberry.OH just asked why are the eventers wearing teddy bears on their shoulders - I explained about Wilberry wonder pony and the charity founded by Hannah but why are so many wearing them is it all about support and awareness of the charity ? It's weird but nice to have plenty of time to sort ponies and ride afterwards![]()
It’s lovely to see though . I know If the winner is wearing wilberry certainly at least one company has pledged to donate to Hannah’s charity so maybe that is whyI wondered if there’d been a special push for it at this competition? You usually see a few going round but there seem to have been more wearing them than not wearing them today.
