Does anyone know where you can see the official photos if anywhere? We got our picture took by the photographer after the class and would maybe purchase it if I don't look daft![]()
Ace thank you!Nigel will have them up usually in 48h or so. Just google Nigel Kirby photography![]()
I know this dog well. He is the sire of our puppy bitch who took BPIB at crufts. He has full and complete dentition. The picture of the BoB dobermann's mouth that is circulating on FB is, erm, interesting. Particularly for a dog that has been used to sire 32 litters. From the livestream:

Perhaps they should think about the way they are shown in that case, because it's really not doing the reputation of the breed any good.

I’d expect a show lines dog to be heavier set, but I agree, that dog was obese. My Lab is also campaigning to be allowed to get that fat. I didn’t watch it this year but I imagine there was the same commentary about how these are working breeds, bred to work all day in the field blah blah blah while an obese dog waddles around the ring.
Broke my heart to see a dog we’ve known for years getting increasingly fat, he could barely walk at the end. He was desperately trying to play with our twoI think in recent years people have just got too used to overweight dogs and it's become the norm; most dogs I see being walked nowadays are far too fat.
That’s so disappointing. I was honestly hoping that the clumber winning would see an uptick in puppies bred, but that article could out the kibosh on that.Original report which is just about readable

While I agree re unfit dogs, and nothing looks worse than an overweight handler wobbling around the ring, age catches up even with the slim and fit!!That’s so disappointing. Obviously the judges pick what they consider to be the best dog, but wouldn’t it be amazing to see vulnerable breeds chosen and becoming popular again? Naive, I know. (And unfit dogs [and handlers!] removed!)
I didn’t mean age/weight re handler! I was referencing the Lakeland barely able to place his fores on the groundWhile I agree re unfit dogs, and nothing looks worse than an overweight handler wobbling around the ring, age catches up even with the slim and fit!!
Prob because he wasn't entirely sound in front but then a lot of terriers look unsound to me so perhaps im being overcritical! Just because soundness is my passion. But he did look slightly uneven in front to me. The only group finalist I would have had was the cocker!I didn’t mean age/weight re handler! The English Setter didn't even get a look in in the Gundog group, I would love for one to win! There's only around 200 bred a year and they're great dogs, should be more popular! I must say that I don't like the show trim that they get thoughObviously the judges pick what they consider to be the best dog, but wouldn’t it be amazing to see vulnerable breeds chosen and becoming popular again? I saw this comparing the winner with a Clumber from the gundog display (the photos of Bruin are, apparently from two years ago when he won best in breed). Nothing about the best in show looks good in this comparison.

Clumbers do nothing for me so I have no axe to grind here and I have only seen said dog on the screen but there is NO way that head shot on the right is genuinely one of the winning clumber!!View attachment 173571

That has happened and has been very devisive. Has improved them no end.Re Clumbers I was talking to a breeder of them about 10/15 years ago and she was explaining that the ?association or ?the KC had agreed to adding cocker blood into the clumber breed as the bloodline was getting inbred. I’d say the dog in the left of the photo looked very cocker like, would be interesting to see the 5 gen pedigrees of each.
Are you sure? This is a cropped photo from the BBC website.Clumbers do nothing for me so I have no axe to grind here and I have only seen said dog on the screen but there is NO way that head shot on the right is genuinely one of the winning clumber!!
Cross posted!I thought the same but here is the full photo from Crufts in 2024View attachment 173572
