Crufts 2026 roll call

And yet fell down the internet rabbit hole watching Crufts and deciding on fantasy dogs-there are several litters of long haired gsps around!

Delighted to see a Dandie Dinmont, I would definitely have chosen him (her? OH was asking why it had pigtails in the ears!) as an endangered breed, would be great to generate interest, plenty of breeders on Champdogs, no litters, tho.

GLPs....GSPs are a different breed!

The GSD was spun because the vet deemed she was "too extreme for the public". Whatever your view on modern GSDs I do not feel this is a decision a vet should make. I have now seen a video of her in the BoB challenge and she was calm, sound and not imo extreme.

And Roswitha Dannenberg (SV presidedent) was there so the cynic in me wonders if it was political/making a point.

It's fine though, more people will just end up supporting the system with mandatory health testing and working qualifications.

My OH just asked me how the process works to bring foreign dogs in for Crufts, looking at the Canadian mastiff with the former WWE owner. Europe I think there’s just a passport required. I need to look into this for ours in case we want to travel.

There are many dogs from overseas-more entries than ever before, apparently. Can someone enlighten us about the process?

The Americans and Canadians have to fly their dogs to all the big international competitions in Europe, it's pretty common, but there's a lot of paperwork and hanging around. There's a couple of big hub airports on the continent that handle animal transportation, a lot of folks fly into Schiphol and then hire a vehicle. I spent ages chatting to the world champion in 2015 at the airport in Finland while we all waited to go home and the dog was just chilling, I bump into the Canadians all the time at the airport. Sometimes it is the other way around, they've had WUSV in Boston and Philadelphia and dogs Europe have gone out. My friend's dog came off the flight from Schiphol to JFK stinking of horse pee!!

Australia can be tricky still, the teams are generally only one or two people as very few people can afford it and they still have a period of inbound quarantine.
