I don’t know Laura Hill at all, my showing knowledge is very limited- I just know Annie through the GLPs 😊

Good luck with it all! Am looking forward to hearing how it goes!

I know Laura a little through her Cocker trialling (side line to the labs!). She's a great judge for trials so hopefully the showing is the same

.

I really liked the cocker type commonly seen about 20+yrs ago which was probably half way between today's workers and show-types, a bit more substantial than some of the workers but lighter than the show types and with a more traditional head.

You have described my WCS to a tee! He's the substantial old fashioned type and sometimes people thinkhe's a welsh springer on account of his red and white markings, some of the working type now are so whispy and dainty.

All of the main arena programme is livestreamed for free on Youtube, ring programme is here. Beware that there are lots of scam pages on Facebook purporting to be the live stream that ask for a subscription charge.

Sat at home watching the snow bucketing down and wondering if we'll make it down the M6 tomorrow morning!

Malwhit, when l was growing up (a long time ago!) my neighbours had a lovely pet cocker who looked very like Tracey Witch of Ware, l don’t know what his breeding was but he was what l still think of as a typical cocker. He was only a pet but had a marvellous temperament too.

67 Irish Terriers at Crufts this year!! I am very glad to see they are not classed as vulnerable any longer :) I wish I could go but sadly can't. Lakeland terrier entries are low (31) but I suspect that we do actually have a healthy population of Lakies in the UK. Norwich and Sealyhams (28 & 32) however seem like a small group. Very small numbers for the Australian and Glen of Imaal terriers (23 & 30) . Welsh terriers are another breed with small numbers (41) that does seem to reflect the wider population. I am definitely ambivalent about the role of showing in improving breeding but at least it does give people chance to see some of the fabulous, lesser known breeds that might be perfect for them.! I have to thank Crufts too for introducing me to the Irish Terrier :) :) And HHO for reminding us of the wonderful Manchester terrier/English Black and Tan terrier.! I hope everyone enjoys whether visiting or showing! Good luck to all competing this year.

Just seen on Fb that one of my Jem's cousins has got himself a very nice frillie at Crufts. His breeder is sending me a pic of them both together later, I shall post it on here as a very tenuous claim to fame for my beautiful lab! 😂 I shall show Jem his Crufts pic so she realises that being grumpy with the judges has cost her great fame and fortune, but then I wouldn't have ended up with the gorgeous black Diva would I, so every cloud has a silver lining. 😉😊

They are showing Bavarian Mountain Hounds for the first time ever. This morning on the radio it said the entries were down on normal figures, not sure if its due to the weather. We're four miles away and we've not had that much

I'm surprised at the amount of each breed. Is it just really easy to qualify?

1-3rd at a championship show, champion title, if it one first place at Crufts the previous year.
Our bitch was third in the open class in 1972 behind two big champions of the day, we still have the prize of a cheque for one pound.

Do you mean in breed? Not wishing to put down anyone’s achievements in qualifying but yes it is easier to qualify nowadays . Less entries at champ shows overall and I think more qualifying places , used to be just 1st place now 1st to 3rd

I know I'm highly suggestible about dogs but I'm watching the channel4 coverage and now I absolutely need a Dandie Dinmont. I think they're the cutest things I've ever seen.

OH had tried to book a surprise trip to crufts for my 30th, but covid wrecked it. Maybe next year!
