Today when I picked lady's feet out, the sole on one of her front feet was quite crumbly and her frog is detached a little at the front.
She is out for 3 hours a day, in light work and on a deep shavings bed the rest of the time with ad-lib soaked hay as she is a recovering laminitic (about four months post). She has slight rotation of the pedal bone in both front feet from a bout of laminitis before I had her. She is due to be shod on Monday and I will speak to my farrier about this.
What has caused her sole to crumble and how can I stop this happening in the future?
