CP and I got a wildcard for the Dressage Masters Prelim Final after finishing 5th at the semi-final, but Mr W and Arthur qualified directly for the Elementary final following their 4th place in the semi-final!

My lovely head teacher allowed me to swap days and so Monday evening I came home straight from work got changed, managed a quick lesson on CP, this was followed by car-packing and frantic tack cleaning, then put mini-W to bed at my parent's house before rounding up the feral filly and bundling her and Diva into the trailer to drop them off at the vets, then screeched to Asda still with the trailer attached to do a quick food shop! Fell into bed with a million things spinning round my head!!!!!!

Yesterday morning saw me up early to get them both ready. Arthur was dragged in first and dumped in his stable in an attempt to fool him that it was a 'normal' day CP was then dragged in from the field looking brown, green and white ;)

I promptly began operation deep clean and eventually a very cross cob looked white and brown..

I deliberately left Arthur till the last possible minute as he tends to turn into a piaffing monster then minute the first plait goes in, however in a bizzare twist CP took on the roll of fidget bum and demonstrated a passable attempt at piaffe under the solariam and eventually looked like this...

Worryingly Mr Antsinhispants was super chilled making question if living out at night had overdone the 'chill' factor!

With military precision and planning, which involved replacing the partitions removed for the transport of one feral filly and Diva, we loaded up and pretty much left on time :o

We left plenty of time as traffic works on the M25 and M23 could have delayed us but in actual fact we sailed through and arrived ridiculously early so dropped the ramp and CP's excitement was evident...

Had a quick look at the warm-up and then promptly wished I hadn't :( watched a lovely horse and thought it must be doing the Novice and then sadly watched it go in and do the prelim and started wailing and whining :o

I then proceeded to got an ear bashing by Mr W and quite rightly so, I seem to have forgotten just how far I have come :( So duly put in my place I went back to being nervous instead :) Then the family arrived and took over the lorry park so in between ordering Mr W and my dad around and stopping mini-W (aged 3) and cousin W (aged 4) running riot and trying to climb into the brand new Oakley next to us I forgot to crap my pants!

Got on CP and went round to the warm-up and went through my usual warm-up drill.
Some pictures...

I was a little overawed at one point especially with big flashy horses passaging past but I did reel myself in and got some lovely work in the end :)

Went round to my test arena and bless her she went a little green on me and went a little tense, she boggled at the signs and flower pots but once she went past one she was fine... Phew :D

It was the best test we have done together so far and I was really chuffed with her and me. We got 6's and 7's all the way through with lovely comments which were spot on. 64.09% and 14th out of 21. Bearing in mind we only got a wildcard I was over the moon. I was hoping for a 65% but I dropped marks in the free walk and got 6's where we usually get a 7 or an 8. We have only competed at prelim where as the majority of other horses are already established at Novice, also I only did my first BD prelim with her in March so to achieve what we have done so far is fabulous and to do get +64% at a championship is brilliant :D

Miraculously Mr W also developed some semi-passable photo skills and took a couple which actually have me vaguely in focus without any major body parts of horse or rider lopped off!

My lovely little coblood is so reliable and consistent and I wouldn't swap her for the world :) She is what she is but what I love the most is she gives me 200% I also got to wear my lovely new Pikeur jacket from Dressage Deluxe - I've finally slimmed down enough to buy off the peg :p

Finally a pic with my biggest supporter which also shows you her conformation faults beautifully ;)...

Part 2 - Arthur

Mr Chill lasted until we arrived at Hickstead when we took CP off the trailer, he then reverted back to form and proceeded to kick the crap out of the trailer with Mini-Worried adding to the chaos by yelling shush Arfur and be quiet Arfur at the top of his voice and then finally giving him a naughty step warning by counting to 3! With CP reunited he shut up and annoyed her quietly while we had a quick lunch break.

Arthur is such an odd bod, once unloaded he was perfectly calm with the chaos going on around him and positively revelled in being spoilt and patted by parents and children. Got him ready and then had to wait while Mr W spent 10 minutes getting his new boots on

With Mr W on and his legs immobilised ;) I then took Arthur's hoof and led him round to the warm-up past a very scary generator and lots of snakes (electrical cables)!

He mooched round really nonchalantly as if to say "I know exactly where I am..." He warmed up beautifully, no nonsense, no special moves, just soft round, forward and listening :o in the back of my mind I was thinking I bet he is storing it up to be a tit in the arena...

Some pics from the warm-up

How wrong I was!!! This big grown up horse walked calmly round to the arena and trotted straight in and arena without looking at ANYTHING!

He did a great test, smooth and balanced and a pleasure to watch, only blip was a hesitant halt and rein back which is a shame as he normally scores 8's and the first canter, trot, canter could have been more fluent, but his test sheet was mainly 7's with a spattering of 8's and a couple of 6's. Again judge's comments were spot on he needs more elasticity and suppleness and it is really coming better and better. He is not a horse with huge natural cadence but it is developing better and better all the time.

We went back and it took ages for the scores to go up :( so we consoled ourselves with a spot of shopping :D I went off to get a drink and Mr W returned grinning...

That shuffling little bay who no one wanted and who arrived a couple of years ago 'for three weeks', looking like he had stepped out of a racing yard, went and got 68.28% and finished 6th so made the mounted prize giving :D

It is an incredible achievement for all of us he has been incredibly difficult at times to manage both in the stable and at competitions, however he has such a big heart, he is now trying so hard for Mr W, and aside from CP, he is one of my absolute favourites.

This is him when he arrived

It was a great day and I'm really proud of Mr W and Arthur, even better when he went round to the prize giving he suddenly got really lit up on the way out and began to passage, for a horse who has previously lacked cadence this was brilliant!!!! Hopefully we have found the button and we may now see more of this in the future! I just kept telling Mr W to pat him ;)

I have pro pics and videos so will either add to this or do another post depending on what people would rather see, am well aware this may be overload for people so feel free to tell me to wind my neck in :o

I would have loved to but sadly her passport name is Ballingowan Lilly so the lovely Wilde2 had the headcollar made at Burghley last year and one side is Ballingowan Lilly and the other is Cow Pony :D

Fabulous reports, well done all. And yes to videos and more pics please :D

Just uploading now :)

He was a nightmare yesterday! My dad loaded CP onto the trailer and he had a fit and started crying that he wanted LeeLee (can't say CP or Lilly) on the lorry next to us! You can imagine if the owners of the brand new Oakley returned and found CP tucked up on it!

Brilliant report, well done! I love reading your reports and following your journey with your lovely horses.

Overload! As IF?! I demand further photos and videos immediately! :p

Jolly well done team worried. I love that you have cow pony on her halter. I also love mini W counting Arthur down to the naughty step. It's such a lovely family affair :)

What trailer do you have? Your partitions look amazing!

Fabulous reports and well done all round. I too loved Mini giving Arthur the naughty step warning!

Great report! So good that they both saved up all their fantasticness for the day. You should all be very proud. :)
