Seeing that we cannot really get a setter ATM as we don't have the room, and I don't think another springer is the way to go, I would realllllllllly like a JRT, only thing is, OH doesn't like them

Blackeventer you have the type I am after - sooo gorgeous

And I adore Diesel, such a dude but damn you for putting those disgusting hairless things in my thread - I will now have nightmares

My JRT barks less than either the ESS and Labs. He only barks at the doorbell when the others start, and he is the only one who only has to be told once to be quiet.

Can't resist showing off our two babies - Bunny and Mumble.

Mumble can bark a bit - but only when he hears unexpected noises. But they are so much fun - bundles of energy but also cuddly and affectionate.

Thanks Weezy !
Rio NEVER barks. His intelligence is frightening and he's the most loyal dog...The other side of the coin is that he adores his dad (my son Alexis) beyond reason...Exclusively and madly ! Puts up with other dogs if Alexis not around. If he is, he has some issues with them, like "stay away, he's mine" kind of thing. As he is very smart and knows fights are a "no no", he goes away and sulks with a martyr look on his face until the intruder has gone away.
Getting better with this with age though...
And he's in love with horses

Mine bark less than my collie but it is a higher pitch!! and only when a quad or bike goes past the gate.. However, they stop when told... They are very loyal dogs too and will sleep all day if thats all they have to do or they'll go all day too. Great guard dogs..mine are fantastic with people especially children but if I need mine to guard they will. I was once approached by a bloke out walking one day and felt uneasy about him so picked up Spotty and immediately he started snarling..the bloke walked by, I put Spotty down and off we toddled..

Ours isn't yappy in the house at all! In fact just last week the postman knocked with a parcel and she didn't even move off the sofa!! She can occaisionally yapp at other dogs if she's playing with them and they get tired and stop playing! But if you tell her to shut up she soon does!!
They're great dogs!! Flic comes down stables with me, potters around with me, will follow horse on hack across fields then you can take her home and cuddle up together on the sofa!!
Do you need to get a specific breed? Or could you just go to a rescue to get a small dog?? Thats what we did, we just looked round the rescue, and we only wanted a small dog because we haven't much room, and we fell in love with Flic who happened to be a Jack russel!
