Looking for a bridle for Rex but can't decide what style to get. I love the Colligiate anatomical but not keen on the flash style noseband.
Are there any brands that do less chunky bridles..?? Rex is a biggsh chap but, being half Connie, he has a more pony head on a carthorse body lol.
I can't afford to spend huge amounts sadly but want something functional but that compliments his head shape ???IMG_20190905_120921_524_resize_44.jpg

English Bridles have some lovely bridles on sale at the moment. My Connie has the black cavesson which is very dainty with a raised nose and browband. If you look at their Facebook page and scroll back down a few posts they have details. I think they are around £50 plus P&P.

What size is he?
My little cob (must stop calling him that, he's bigger than my LW was, now!) is in a Full size and when he had his first bridle when he was broken in, I was convinced he wouldn't need as chunky a bridle as my grey LW as smaller daintier (for a cob!) head and not grey. However, not only did my old cob's bridle fit him but the chunkiness actually really suits him.
Black doesn't suit him however - I might have a Stubben 1085 Full/XF for sale...it has a crank noseband but I just did it up at Cavesson tightness i.e 4 fingers looseness.
PS I am quite close to you if you wanted a look.

Thanks jnb but Rex is quite small in the head so I think your bridle would be too big for him x
I'm looking at the Horsemanship Saddlery site and they seem to do a bespoke brodle service at a price I might just sbout be able to afford. I'm looking at both the Saturn and Scorpio bridles but will have to measure Rex up for all the bits first.

Interesting that you say that about the hunter bridle as I thought it might look a bit big and clunky on him. Hard to get a good pic that shows what I mean but he's got a very ponyish face ???

Here’s a pic of my cob in the Stubben 1085, in my opinion he doesn’t have a big head either but the chunkier bridle really suits him.
just my opinion but I think the horse that suits a fine bridge is few & far between, usually dainty hack or show pony types & even then, a fine bridle can make a head too big or coarse when really it’s not.

I like substantial nosebands, I think they are more flattering on most heads than thin ones. but I don't like masses of buckles on the face so I have bridles with buckles on the crown instead. I use a poll pad with them to add a bit of extra padding but it wouldn't really tick your box if you wanted something super shaped or newfangled in design.
Just chucking it in as an option though. I got my latest one from FSS on ebay and the other one came from hypostore.

That looks 'quite' similar to my Henry James one (noseband style), this is it on Skylla:

I think it's nice, you like it. Just because it's not "correct" or wouldnt be someone else's choice it will look perfectly good on him.

I don’t like it but then it’s not for me!
It’s definitely better than going for a thin dainty bridle. I would certainly opt for brown.

Is that for the warmblood style bridle or the hunter type in my link??
I know it seems alot of fuss but I just want him to look nice and I don't get the opportunity to buy brand new things very often ?
