The screenshots from FB posted on the Highland Pony Facebook mention getting “40 Highland ponies straight from the breeder.” Nothing about them being unhandled ferals. Anyone looking at an unregistered Highland in the Central Belt should keep their eyes wide open.
Oh dear. Caveat emptor. Buyer beware.
I wish people had to have the animal equivalent of a driving licence before they bought anything with four legs.
I'm sure others will disagree. No problem. We've seen the negative (for animals) aftermath of the pandemic.
However, I generally prefer animals to people.
More information. It gets better. Some of the horses found themselves with a dealer down in Shropshire. They were all microchipped and passported (with the British Driving Society) in 2011, but the dealers are apparently saying they are not passported. Because who and what they were would be obvious if they had their passports. Nice.
If you or anyone you know comes across an unregistered Highland in Shropshire, be careful. If unhandled ferals are your thing, that's great (hi, Palo), but if that isn't your thing and you're told that it just needs "rebreaking," then run.
