Hi everyone!

Well following on from my rather maudling "do we have to move on from Dolly" thread last weekend, we had a rather fabulous outing last Sunday!

It was the first time I'd taken the girls out to a competition since Dolly was lame, and I had reservations because it had been so dry and I didn't want Dolly jumping on hard ground after her problems a few weeks ago. However I had it on good HHO authority (thanks Honey08!) that the particular venue we were going to is chronically damp, so unlikely to be too bad.

So off we went Sunday morning, with my lucky OH in tow (Dolly behaves MUCH better when he's around - she so busy making ;) faces at him, she usually is a good girl and forgets to be naughty!!!). We got there and the ground was dry, but not too solid. It was fine for us actually.

Started off with clear round, and had a sticky moment at a scary green plank but Daughter kicked on and went clear :) what a lovely start, as they'd not been round a course for 3 weeks (not long I know, but daughter's last outing went pear shaped so there were some nerves). Off they went into the novice jumping.

Dolly put a lovely clear round in and was brilliant. Especially considering the scary green plank had........grown another scary green plank !!!!!

Time for the jump off. There were about 8 through, and most were seniors (they don't seem to split - probably not enough entries to do it). Again, Daughter and Dolly went clear, and looked to have a quick time. Although there were a few others clear who looked fast too. I could see that Daughter wasn't going mad though - she obviously didn't want to risk another injury to Dolly.

Anyway results were in, and they'd only won!!! :D YEYEYEYEYEYEY!!!!!!

What a lovely day. I really really like this riding club, and their events. Dolly seems happiest when at this venue. They've got a ODE in a few weeks which we're really looking forward to.

So off we toodled home. With a happy daughter, a happy (and sound!) Dolly and a van full of rosettes :D

I logged onto my emails and facebook messages when we got home, and read a message I had received from a company who had custom made us something for Dolly for free - sort of a trial of a new produce, and send them some photos type thing (and lovely lovely people!). They'd messaged me, asking Daughter and Dolly to be their sponsored rider!!!!!! :D:D:D

Can't tell you how chuffed I am for them!!! I know I always am (:o) but with Daughter getting a little taller and I know another pony will be looming one day, it's so lovely that she achieved this with our scruffy fat little ginger pony, who turned into a superstar.

I know there's good days and bad days for all of us, but days like last Sunday will stay with me forever.

And the scary green planks!

Thanks for reading everyone! I'm doing the 5:2 diet and today is my fasting day....so knock yourself out and have everything I can't! I'm fancying a glass of wine (for a change :o) and a Terrys chocolate orange. Or some jelly teddy bears :)

Fab report :)

and daughter really doesn't look too big for dolly ;)

Thank you. I think it's just a few throw away comments by people that I've let get into my head about it. Leaving it behind me now, I'm sure they'll both tell me when they're ready! x

1. Your daughter is not to big for that pony, another year at least!
2. What a fantastic rider she is, focussed, soft and balanced. Superb!

Well done to both of the. As always enjoy reading your reports and seeing your posts. Ditto everyone else, daughter is not too big for Dolly at all. Don't be in too much of a hurry to move up, she still has a lot to learn.

Will you be getting lots of goddies from the sponsor?

Already commented on fb but wanted to reply here too. Well done D&D :D They're a fab little team and they've come so far, and I'm sure they'll be pinging round courses like pro's for a long time to come yet :)

Thanks! There's so much pressure isn't there to move up. I just can't face it to be honest lol!!!!

Some goodies, but they're a new business and a small business, so it's a lovely gesture and we want to help them make a name for themselves (having had a small independent business ourselves in the past). I'm more chuffed with the self esteem boost for Daughter than anything material, to be honest! :-)

Another year! Fab photos, well done both! X

We've had her three years next month!!! CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT!!! x

I hope so! :-) THANK YOU MGM for always being there! x x x

3 years  doesn't seem 2 mins since dolly was dragging daughter round the in hand ring! They've both come a long way :) and are still looking fab. I reckon at least 1 more year, 2 if you invest in some roller skates for daughter... Keep it up!

Oh wow....3 YEARS???!!! I remember the initial "Help! New pony is a monster!!" posts :p

D+D looking fab as always, and well done on the sponsership!

Well done :)

How exciting to be a sponsored rider :)

And no way is she too big for dolly, a couple more years at least.

Thanks MW!!!! Seems to be lots of votes for dolly still being ok size wise : )

Omg thats just amazing news . well done to daughter, dolly, you and oh. amazing and i bet you are all so proud. thank you as yet again your post as put a smile on my face. so so pleased for you x x x

I'm still traumatised, haven't judged since, thankfully! if its not raining we may venture up for the show to watch. i can probably bribe my daughter to go with the promise of ice cream :)

Aww fantastic update, well done Daughter and Dolly, they really have a fabulous partnership.

Super proud Mother moment! And at least another year min of fun to come :biggrin3:

I do so love reading all your reports, and following the great progress you have all (Dolly, daughter and you!) made. She looks to have such a wonderful balanced and focused position. I'm pretty tall and therefore grew out of many a pony, you hold onto that pony as long as possible, get some roller blades if necessary :biggrin3:

Gorgeous pics! Really pleased for you all. The only reason she will need a new pony next year is because she won't have anything to do the novice classes on, having won everything!!

You must come!!! And sorry if dolly put you off judging for life lol!!! We still won't do in hand with her, after a judge called her the "Bolton lawn mower" cause daughter couldn't get her head up!!!! Xxx

:D Go D&D! Love the scary green fillers photo, they look so focussed and happy :)

Thanks lolo. It was a lovely day! I was proud of dolly and that filler!!! OH said "why don't they wrap barbed wire around it too!!!" I didn't tell him that theres a third plank in the next class!!! : )

Thank you loads!! Dollys stuck with us, but I am liking the roller blades idea!!! :-)

Hahahaha thanks honey!!!! Get your butt to the ODE!!! Xxx

Love your updates, and especially this one. What a fabulous partnership. I don't think daughter is too big for Dolly .. and when she does outgrow her can't you just get her some rollerskates a la Thelwell?! (Or preferably pass Dolly to my 8 yr old ...)

Hahahaha thanks!! Again, I'm sold on the roller skates, and your 8 yr old would be welcome to have a bob round on her too!!! : ) xxx

So daughter has at lest another year riding Dolly, so you are going to loose a little weight so you can take her over for hacking, while looking out for another jockey you can train on, cause you do realise you can never sell her on.

Naw Little Dolly is stuck with us. I might part loan her out one day, or she might go back on part working livery again, but she needs to be out and about. She's a different pony once she sees the horsebox turn up for her. Couldn't take that away from her. And couldn't let her go either. Shes not an ideal 1st pony, and too small for a second. Her and my daughter are made for each other!!!

And I'm not convinced I'll ever lose THAT much weight!!!! ; ) xxc

Get a juicer, my OH says it's the best thing out and he's going to lose the extra pounds, since watching the tv program where a bloke lost over 200lbs in 90 days. Mind you he's said the same about a water flosser that the dental hygienist recommended and that nearly took one of my fillings out.

I love Dolly and Daughter updates :D they're both looking fab, they're looking like proper little showjumpers! It always comes across in your posts just how much Dolly is a part of the family, she's more like a ginger hairy daughter than a pony :D

Not often you see a relaxed looking pony and child showjumping, but your daughter looks like she's doing a fab job with Dolly. Perhaps she could show some adults a thing or two at Hickstead!! Lovely pics and well done D and D!
