***Daughter and Dolly - jumping BIG!!!***

Another long-time lurker here, I rarely post but am trying to be braver and comment on some threads!

I love reading your updates- always brings a smile when I see a new "Daughter and Dolly...." post :) Your posts are great, so positive and it always sounds like you're having such good fun together. Daughter is doing amazingly (eek at that huge jump!) What lovely memories she'll have to look back on when she's grown :)

I already said it on fb but massive well done to D and D they look great together!

*plans to steal them both for some pony fun*

Such lovely photos - your daughter looks so happy! reminds me if how me and my old pony were, He always made me grin however much of a monkey he was, and was always fun to be kept on your toes!

These little ponies are monkeys aren't they!!! Not sure if she's keeping me young or making me old!!!! :D

Can't quote on phone - just a note of caution when driving the lorry with just you, daughter and Dolly on board. Have the radio up loud otherwise daughter will learn lots of new words when some knob cuts you up ;)

Oh how true!!! I used the "knob" word myself last week a few times whilst driving the van and daughter fell about laughing!!!

Some door handle overtook me on the wrong side of the road almost having a head on with something coming the other way (sooooo close it was awful to watch!). Only to sit at the same traffic lights as me! Knob.

:D

Nice to hear from another lurker! Think we should start a club!!!!!

Thanks DH!!!!

I think daughter would more than willingly go along with you with ANY persuasion!!!!! I definately wouldn't be keeping my eyes open for that!!!

:D

:D

:D then she must qualify for equifest then you can bring her and dolly down here with good reason and we can play ponies after :D (JFTD might even be arround as well )

(JFTD might even be arround as well )

If I were feeling like a spot of attention seeking I might flounce off in a strop because the "cool" smiley looks a bit like "JFTD might be around as well :/". *flounces*

:D

I can definitely be around for some game playing! We could hire somewhere for xc or sj or gallops or?! I don't think I will take the pony to equifest though - qualifying would involve the show ring

Bye then!!! :p

:D We could take mini RM xc schooling :D:D:D:D:D:D *mega excitment*

That would be super cool!!

And you can guarentee she won't be the one to fall off and embarass herself 'cos I'll be there :D:D:D

[RM, last time I fell off just going for a quick canter  pony didn't even do anything, I just fancied testing out the peat!]

oh sorry, I'm still flouncing... must go start another thread complaining about dh bullying me

Another mainly lurker here but I do love Dolly and Daughter posts. Well done both of you. Daughter for jumping so well and for all the rosettes and you for keeping your eyes open and for driving the lorry on your own. I can't wait to get my daughters a pony but so far we still haven't found one. Please keep up with the updates as I love reading them.:)

Whoah! Look at the size of that jump!! Way to go dolly and daughter!

I wish that I'd have been so lucky as a kid to have had my own pony and such a fan supportive mother behind me, you and your daughter are very lucky and seem to be such a great team!

Ps, FMM those plaits are amazing!! I discovered plaiting gets a lot easier the thinner the mane- get pulling and you'll have lovely little plaits in no time!!

I absolutely love reading your posts, Redmone. Well done Daughter and Dolly, and congratulations on your bravery. I'll be a gibbering wreck when my kids get to jump that high. They already scare the life out of me when they do 18 inches....!

You two are a scream!!!

OMG the thought of you two xc schooling D & D! I can see it now. Mini RM stood at the gate shouting instructions whilst JTFD whizzes round on Dolly!!!! Probably dressed as a pirate too!!!!

:eek::D

I'm loving every minute of it at the moment. I'm so aware that when daughter is a little older, my days as "helper" will be downgraded to "driver"!!! I'm making the most of it, whilst I'm still needed!!!

Thanks re the plaits! I think her mane does need pulling again - it's soooo thick, wish my hair grew like that! :D

Awww thank you!!!

I was quite chilled out that day! Especially considering I'd just driven the van on my own for the first time, and done all the preparation, loading, unloading, tacking up etc... on my own! Woo!!! I wonder if OH had slipped something into my weetabix to chill me out! lol!!!

Daughter fell off twice, but I just chucked her back on and shoved them back on their way!! I'm really getting the hang of this now!!!

:D:D:D

:D:D BRILLIANT!!!! i remember your first posts and how worried you were, its so lovely to see how well your daughter and dolly are doing, and well done you for sticking with it and being brave...thanks for posting and keep them coming...

I'd rather anyone didn't remember my early posts :o:o:o I was slightly neurotic and insanely worried about the whole thing!!!

Truth be known, I'm a bit (lot!) of a control freak, and to have this rather chunky pony flying round with my cottonwool wrapped daughter onboard was quite scary for me!!

I'm much more chilled out now (wine :p) and loving every minute of it, with no regrets!! As I've said before, these years are so precious to me - I love spending this time with my girls!:D

Thanks x

I too rarely comment but always read your updates. They always make me smile :)

You have come on SOOOO far. I remember your first posts and how you thought you'd bought far too much pony, and were having to have other kids ride her in the lessons as she was too much for your daughter. Half the board suggested you sold her and got something easier, the other half said to give it time ( I think i was the latter!)

Yoour guys are doing just fab with her and look like you're having so much fun: exactly as it should be :D

Now, when are you getting your own pony?...... Nice little coloured cob would do the trick!

P.s if you hogged dolly you wouldn't need to plait (and a plus point for a coloured cob too!)

Can't quote on my phone but in response to your response to me :) I am 28 now and would love love love it if my mother was interested in the slightest and wanted to help me out at shows! You and your daughter have a great bond, and share a love of horses which will most likely stay with you your whole lives! (not withstanding the odd teenage strop or so) friends and boyfriends may come and go but horses can always be 'mum and daughter', time shared and catch up even when she's older and doesnt 'need' you to do her plaits for her I'm sure you'll still be the first one she comes to when she wins the open sj/ puissance :) and the first one she calls when she breaks down driving her box or gets eliminated XC !

Anyway all that's along way off! Love your updates, keep em coming!

You'll be so lucky... Our Alice has just turned 18 and wants to take her HGV license so she won't even need a driver. In this time, her 'team' has pretty much doubled in size and appears to still be growing and we're all very much 'helpers' still :D

It would be great fun :D Fergs knobberts and dolly all hooning round a xc course :p

oh i so love a dolly and daughter update:D they're always such happy posts these days and by that i mean you are enjoying things as much as daughter! even if you spend time with your eyes closed and probably holding your breath lol;)

Don't put yourself down- I'm 32 and a PC mum myself now and really don't like going to stuff without my Mum that extra pair of eyes and a bit of support is invaluable. Everyone else seems to have their Mum's with them at shows and it makes me a bit sad that mine has her own business and has to work - selfish I know but I do miss her x
