Hi everyone!!!!

As promised, thought I'd update you after our riding school's big show on Bank Holiday Monday! Some of you might remember my "hoof polish" meltdown on Sunday, but despite my neurotic rantings, Dolly looked amazing at the show! And behaved amazing too. So proud of my girls!!!

They came away with x2 firsts (for highest placed livery) a 2nd and a 4th. Also got a medal and a trophy, which was lovely :D

Now the past x2 years, Daughter has fallen off in the jumping classes at the show! Almost like it was jinxed! She was sooo determined this year to stay on and break the curse!

They went clear in the novice jumping, then went on to do rider and groom (where the rider jumps against the clock, then the groom jumps on foot a shortened course) and went clear in that too. Daughter didn't break any speed records in the jumping (and so sadly they weren't placed :p) but they were so pleased to get round and go clear, it didn't matter to us. We're just working on getting Dolly going clear at the moment - she hardly ever has poles down but does put in a few too many dirty stops so we've been told to focus on building up their confidence for now, and let the speed come later.

Anyway, despite the weather, it was a lovely day and daughter was very very happy with her results. Dolly was happy with her BIG apple! :D

Also, they went to a small jumping competition on Saturday, and had x2 clear rounds and went clear in the 65cm class (but then picked up 4 faults for turning a circle when Dolly felt she knew the course better than daughter did!:o:rolleyes:) was unlucky, but all experience - bet daughter doesn't let that happen again!!!

So it's ALLLLLLL goooood!!! Have a massive amount of love for this pony that I was so unsure about. And no regrets at all. And daughter is ok too :D

Thanks for reading everyone, I've got swizzles lollies, parmaviolets and love hearts as a treat for you today!!!

And here's some photos too....

One of my favourite pictures of flying Dolly!

Thanks everyone! x x x

Hurrah! Been waiting for this post (that sounds a bit wrong - but you know what I mean!). Sounds like you had a fab day. Love all your happy pictures. Dolly is a very stylish pony.

But the big question.....who was the groom in the rider and groom class? Have you been doing some jumping too?!

:)

Ha ha! Not on your nelly!!!!! We did want to give daughter at least a chance of getting placed :o:p:cool:

One of her lovely friends ran for her! :D

Daughter has requested that I enter an inhand class with Dolly sometime though :eek::eek: OH what will I wear ****flicks hair and flounces off to look***.....

actually the thought terrifies me! :o

ps Thanks!! Glad you were looking forward to our update :D

I love reading your updates, you're always so positive and your daughter and Dolly are just an awesome team :D That jump they're going over looks huge!

Your daughters pony is absolutely GORGEOUS! What breed is she? :)

Awww thank you!!!

Eeerm Heinz 57 breed? :D

We think she's new forest x welsh, but as we had to get a duplicate passport issued, we have a bog standard plain passport (not from any society of anything) we have no idea exactly what she is, who she is by or where she has come from. Shame really, as we'd love to know.

But we love our little ginger girl anyway :D

Thanks loads, lovely thing to say :D

Thank you!!!

I wasn't always this positive! :o Many will remember my traumas and ramblings about what a mess I'd made of everything, and what on EARTH have I done buying THIS pony for my precious (made of glass) daughter :o:rolleyes:;)

They do make a great team though. They've come on so much!

Dolly has a cracking jump in her, and daughter has no fear of heights. Our problem is speed, and dirty stops. But we're working on it....slowly slowly catchey monkey! :D

Dyou know what? I love your posts, its so nice to read about a little girl who loves her pony so much and enjoys the whole experience, even falling off doesnt faze her. They have come so far, as have you, a really good team, all of you. A huge congrats on the show results x
PS I may well be pming you in the future for pony and child tips, I have just bought a little L/R pony to teach my granddaughters to ride but despite riding for over 40 years have never owned a pony. Im led to believe the littleun is going to cause me more headaches than my bigun!! :)

LOVE Daughter and Dolly posts!!!

Thank you and well done D&D! :D

I think when Daughter grows out of Dolly there will be a few HHO's in the queue for her! ;)

Excellent! Nothing like a 'Daughter and Dolly' update to cheer up a miserable wet Wednesday :D :D You must be starting to run out of storage and display space for all the frillies they are winning!

What a coincidence! Not been on much recently (I tend to be here in fits and starts) but logged on the last day or two and as I logged on today, I was thinking about Dolly and how she was doing. Was planning on a search to catch up on your progress and there you are at the top of the page! Daughter has grown so much! They sound and look like a fab team now, well done them and you for your perseverence:)

Great report, well done to D and D!!

I know I've commented on it before but I love that rug, I must have one! :D
Where did you purchase it from?:o

It's brilliant to read how far you've all come since those days.

Well done to all concerned!

Another lovely update. Well done Daughter and Dolly on there sucess at the shows. They look so fab together and like they are always having fun. That jump in the last pic is HUGE  Looks like they jumped it effortlessly though :)
Herbs and I also have speed issues in jumping. We always get a double clear but I think we must do the slowest jumpoffs in the history of jumpoffs. (I'm so scared we trot round :o ) Luckly for us most people round here seem to go for speed and end up getting faults so we seem to get placed most of the time ;) :p :D
With more practice daughter and dolly will soon be flying round those causes and getting double clears. :D
And I agree with daughter you should do some inhand with Dolly. (Then you'll get the bug and have to get a horse of your own ;) :p :D :D )

All I can see, I'm afraid, is some serious hand-holding, tea and cake proffering and shoulders to cry on being required when D's legs eventually reach to Dolly's knees...

I recommend members of this forum to take heed of this warning and start preparing in advance.

In fact, pretty much the same rallying-round during the purchase of her  ;) :D :D :D :D :D

Well done the Dynamic Duo.

Also - I wanted you to see this...

The fence is remarkable enough, at 3ft and the pony being less than 12 hands, but the little fellow on her back did her teeth (in his capacity as an EDT) last week

The pony still belongs to the original owner.

Thanks everyone!! Will reply properly tomorrow, think that storm has knocked my broadband out as can only get on my phone Internet : ( xxx
