PROUD MUM ALERT!!!!!!
So i think my last post (ages ago) was about the nightmare that was the previous loan pony - advertised as 'Perfect 1st pony for coming off the lead rein' and was actually handwork / dangerous at every moment day or night.
Mutual friends have been recommending this mare to us for ages- had discounted her as she was a 'she', but went to try her and the confidence she instilled in my children instantly made the decision very very easy!
We've had Ruby for 2 months now and she has given my girls their confidence back and is now starting to bring them on.
We went to a lovely little starter show yesterday. Ruby was very fresh when we got there (i don't think she has done many if any shows as many been a broodmare with owners) so after a good 20 minute lunge she settled and carried my 5 year old- 'T'- around the 'Poles on the ground' class - T is only just starting to get the hang of rising trot and Ruby was a star and they came 4th which gave T the biggest smile in NATO.
Check out the smile (but ignore the dodgiest mane ever
And film (sorry for quality i was filmed by a 6yo)

Next class was for my 6 year old- J- Mini cross poles- we have established that Ruby who has mostly been ridden by adults before doesn't like me leading over fences next to her head so we've worked out for me to run ahead. They did fab again a couple of poles down but lots of confidence gained.... So much so that J was keen to try the 1'3 OFF THE LEAD REIN! So after watching a couple she was still keen so we went in and in the same style I ran ahead to help them out. They did fab J didn't want to do one fence (which was quite big compared to the others) but completed the rest of the course again with a couple of poles down- more due to J's balance than Rubys scope. They did fabulously could not be more proud

They then went on to do Gymkhana- which seemed to confuse Ruby quite a bit at first but she worked it out and earned the girls a frilly in every game.
I could not be prouder of all 3 of my girls roll on the next show!
