My field currently resembles a mud bath, have never seen it so bad :(

My two horses are out in it for up to 12 hours a day (they have hay out there so not left to starve). They are coming in with thick mud on their legs every evening which then gets hoses off. Currently their legs are un-clipped.

I am wanting to do a final clip on both of them in the next week or so and would prefer to clip their legs out too. Will the mud have a worse affect on them if they are clipped out or will it not make a difference?

Legs will still be hosed off and stable wraps put on overnight.

I've just clipped my girlies legs out and she has her 'bed socks' on at night too. I prefer it for drying legs quickly and much easier to spot if there's problems (nicks/scratches etc)

Oh got plenty of it!! Lol. My youngster has had a couple if bits starting to come up looking a bit scabby, but luckily all kept under control so far.
My mare (who's legs I've clipped) seems to be very happy having her bed socks on at night ;)

Mine had their legs clipped off last year - had no problems with the mud.

Okay it wasnt hugely deep but it didnt stick as much. They arent clipped this year and their legs have thicker mud stuck to them, so if mine were in more competition work i would have done them again this year.
