Just heard on facebook that they have gone bust???

Can anyone confirm?

Not surprised if they have after the appaling treatment ive had but i have a rug on its way back to them for refund!

They are still emailing today so wonder if it is another rumour surrounding them.
Its always sad when the rumour mill gets going, as it can destroy a business that would otherwise keep going.

As others have said, I am always reading that they are in trouble, I have always been happy with their goods but the delivery/customer service is very shaky. I hope they don't close as more jobs will be lost.

Having just spent some time on the phone to them (again!) they appear to be still sending stuff out and processing credits against cards promptly. They don't appear to have an answer to why they're selling stuff they haven't got though!

I took a punt on various items that I wouldn't have bought at full price but was prepared to take a risk on at 20% of their value. Some have been cancelled, some have arrived.

Their office systems are absolutely appalling though and I'm amazed the girls on the phone are as even tempered as they are.

I went to their store last weekend and asked the same question, as their shop has halved in size and part has been replaced by a deli?!

The woman I spoke to said they have downsized their store in order to have more stock at branch rather than ordering in from the warehouse. They are not closing down.

Whether I take them for their word is a whole different matter...!

I've never had any problems with them, and things have always arrived promptly. Have I just been lucky?

This. I've always been lucky with them although I never order anything I am desperate for. I order knowing it will arrive when it arrives or maybe not at all!

I just got two little pony rugs for 20 quid, took about two weeks but was kept informed when they would be dispatched etc. I am sure it is annoying for people unaware of their reputation but I kind of wonder what people expect at those prices. I hope they do stay in business but I do think they need to be more honest about their despatch times*- just tell people it'll take a month and then let them make their minds up.

Just received 2 pairs of jods from them so no probs with the service, but I understand from info elsewhere on the net that they are looking for a buyer while they continue to trade.

I have sadly had many a run in with them recently. Taking money for items they didnt have, taking weeks to dispatch orders that said in stock ready to dispatch in 24 hours. Taking money for out of stock items is something they have only just started to do in the last 6 months or so and they didnt make this change public knowledge. The only way to get any response was to sadly rant on facebook, then boy do they get back to you quickly. I used to love their goods but to be honest the quality in now rubbish. I stopped buying off them about 6 months ago after every order resulted in me ringing them and chasing it for several weeks. Shame to end like this. I loved the original Derby house in the old house packed to the rafters with George the saddle fitter, when you got the personal touch :(

Until my most recent order in June, I'd not had any problems. However, this time round I waited over a month for a delivery that didn't arrive, sent two emails and tweeted them, no response. Checked today & my order has been cancelled. Have to go back through bank statements as can't remember if they took the money at the time of ordering.
I would never order from them again. Their customer service is non existent. I don't want to be chasing orders with emails & phone calls. Would rather shop elsewhere.

If you look at their status on the Companies House website, it is 'Voluntary Arrangement'. That means (I think) that they have become insolvent but that they have entered an agreement to try to rescue the situation.

Hmm, interesting!

The main shop at Wrightington has changed completely over the last few months. They have diversified with a farm shop and they also push the cafe side of the business to non- equine customers ie. special deals for pensioners (not saying pensioners don't ride but I doubt they are their main horsey customer).
There doesn't seem to be a great deal of stock in the shop nowadays.

This. The last time I used them they were appalling. Three months of waiting with lots of empty promises, ended up cancelling the order & buying elsewhere. If any of my friends talk about buying horsey stuff online I always tell them not to order from there.

Derby house suck

terrible service
poor customer service
getting fobbed off
lied too
I will not shop there again.

Robinsons much better

Me to. It does say on the item if it ready to dispatch or when stock will arrive. Iv never had an issue with them and they have always responded to my messages.

It's a sad indictment on the company that no one seems the slightest surprised to hear about their demise due to the way they have been running it over the last few years. Selling stuff they don't have in stock. Fobbing off customers with excuse after excuse as to why their order has not been sent. Taking payment from customers accounts before sending their order.

It always seemed to be having financial difficulties & possibly using money from new orders to fill older orders? Eventually it has to tumble down. I'm sorry to see a company in trouble but if they provide such horrendous service then possibly it's for the best?

Apparently they've one into voluntary administration with effect from 20 July...

Wow, the rumours have been doing the rounds for years bit it looks like it's finally happened...

I've had good and bad experiences with them in the past, but I wonder how it will affect the equestrian market if they do close.

I used to use them a lot but recently have had nothing but trouble, I don't understand how they can send these amazing offers out by email for items which won't be in stock for weeks! If they only took payment on despatch it wouldn't be so bad but they don't. I think that now people know they are in real trouble they won't have the confidence to order in case they lose their money so it seems inevitable they will fold.

Well as I have posted before, I was doing a charity show in aid of Spana, and ordered dressage boards in the march before. I phoned up 8 times during the coming weeks and every time got a "sorry they have been delayed they will be delivered on such and such a date"
Till the last time I phoned and said "where are my boards" I ordered them 4 months ago they "said they definitely will be here on the 28th July". I said " That is no F8cking good my show is in 2 weeks (10 th JULY) I have been fobbed off enough. Cancel my order I will go to Robinsoins instead"

Ordered them from Robinsons on the Monday and they arrived on the Wed. Wrote to Derby House heard nothing again, and vowed I would never shop there again:mad:

I've seen the specials on their jods, £90 down to £15, such a shame they are in big trouble. I've never ordered from them, but have found Equestrian Clearance and Fast Tack Direct to be spot on.

If you're that unhappy about their service, don't buy from them, it's up to you to give them that push. At the end of the day, if they do go under, how many of you will loose your money? It's the same for those who get vouchers to spend at shops, when that shop goes under, the vouchers are worthless.
There are other catalogues that aren't tipped on a set of scales, it's your decision at the end of the day.

I say this because for months now, this subject keeps creeping up, and always about the same Company.

Just spoke with derby house they aren't in administration, I ordered back in May and received most of my order apart from 8 rugs which I was informed there is an issue so I've changed it over. The ladies were all extremely lovely and I must say although slow I have been happy with what I have so far. The rugs are great quality and all CS people I have dealt with we're very understanding.

This is what Horse Rugs 4 U used to do. Appalling company. Are they still trading now?
