Derby House

Derby house face book page looks like they are trading(THEY ARE NOT TRADING) The DH website gives details of the liquidating company, (administrators) if you've bought from them recently and not received anything I think it will be a long slow job getting your money back.
I had a look at Derby House and Ride-Away yesterday.

They have a front page but the only goods you can link to are on on Brand Alley's other sites, so jewellery, handbags, skincare etc.

It was very confusing. Welcome to Brand Alley at the top, then we are in administration at the bottom.

My best guess is that the business was running in debt, they want the business but without the debt, so will go into administration to clear the debt then re-open. It will mean I avoid buying from them if that happens, as it is so unfair to those with unfilled orders and all the suppliers who will also be out of pocket.

Brand Alley has bought Rideaway and Derby House as parts of the purchase of parts of the Internet Fusion Group, which is in administration.
So Derby House and Rideaway should not now be in administration, but they exist as brand names only. They have taken some staff and the logistics but NOT the stock and it looks like only orders already in delivery will be fulfilled. .

Very sad for everyone waiting for orders :(

I may be being a bit slow on the uptake now, but I don't really understand what they have bought?

They have the staff, but presumably could have advertised for staff, or offered staff a job, no need to 'buy' them.

Logistics, are we talking warehouses? Lorries?

Presumably the web domains won't be of use to them.

Can't see Ride Away's premises being of any use, it is a country store, tin shed type building, out of the way.

Ride away was also amazing, loved those catalogues too.
Me and my best friend used to sit on the house phone all evening looking through the ride away catalogues - "go to page 93, ok which stable rug would you have?!" (neither of us had our own horses yet). We also were lucky to live only 20 mins away from ride away so that was always our local horsey shop!

The old rideaway store at sutton on forest is now one of 3 Millbry Hill the country store sites, I'm guessing the rideaway on line site is next door so not much value as a building plot.

They've bought, as far as I can make out and using the OHs corporate business knowledge, the Derby House and Rideaway brand names and 125 staff involved with the logistics of buying, selling and delivering goods, which might include warehouse space, or not, but certainly doesn't, according to the article, include stock.

Basically, I think they've probably agreed to employ the staff (for how long?), probably taken on some property leases, and paid a bit for the brand names.

By "buying" the staff I meant taken on their employment liabilities.

I remember the lovely shiny Derby House catalogue. It was the real high end shop. Loved Rideaway and Robinsons too. I’m sure Shires also used to have a nice catalogue. There was one called Cam as well? Oh and Olney Saddlery.

As a child I used to sit looking through them all choosing what I would have for my future horse. It’s a shame they’ve gone the way they have. Sign of the times I suppose.
I used to like Olney Saddlery!

It doesn’t surprise me - I’ve bought off eBay (new stuff) or Facebook Marketplace for years now. Ordering direct from companies seems to be hit and miss. Sometimes it comes on time, sometimes it is delayed, sometimes it never comes at all.

I just ordered from an online equestrian store direct (first time in years) and it turns out they were out of stock and didn’t update the website. Been waiting 3 weeks so far for them to get the next order in. Not exactly proving me wrong…!

Robinsons sale… was it about now, bank holiday weekend? Real bargains, still have a set of stable bandages for there which i bought for £2. Those were the days, so old now 😭

Oh yes....it was like a warehouse sized magnificent jumble sale. We used to visit specially.

The old Derby House in Parbold and Estate Supplies in Ashley were the best! I've still got loads of clothes and kit from them in use! They sold quality stuff.

Does anyone remember the old days, I used to live Derby house catalogues, had all the posh showing stuff. Still have my first set of breeches and canary shirt from there.
Ride away was also amazing, loved those catalogues too.

In our family there were two Christmas catalogues that we slept with, the kids Hamleys, me Derby House. Its so sad.😢

I absolutely love derby house rugs, I hope they do bring the original stock back eventually.

Baffles me why they are still advertising things on their Instagram and Facebook when they’re not trading though.

I would presume they’re scheduled posts as last time I looked I couldn’t see anyone was responding to the comments?

Maybe nobody has told the social media advertising agency.

The original DH shop was in Parbold. It was a proper Alladins cave of all things good quality equestrian.

I used to 'do' in a day both the original Derby House and the original Robinsons superstore near Haydock Racecourse before it burned down and reinvented itself selling cheap cr@p.
Me too when I lived there

I'm getting daily emails from "Rideaway" giving me £20 off my first order from the Rideaway/Brand Alley family. But as they are a designer fashion, homeware, beauty and lifestyle shopping experience (their words!) with, as far as I can find, no equestrian items at all, it's not something I want to be bombarded with emails about.

You can still process a chargeback for a payment done on a debit card.

A case like this where the company has gone into administration and the goods have not been received is ridiculously easy to win.

According to the reading I've done this is dependant on your bank. The bank aren't going to get the money back, they'll be an unsecured creditor just like the customers who've paid for orders. There isn't really any reason why the bank should agree to take that on that loss.

A credit card is different if the value of your order was over £100. In that case, the credit card is legally liable for your debt.

I deal with these cases daily and cannot think of a single case of this nature that I have not won. If your bank does not take this on, then you should change banks.

I remember CAM Equestrian also, they used to send out their catalogues.
