It really upsets me to hear that people still think CM knows anything about dogs. Good for Alan titchmarsh for giving him a hard time.
I managed to stick with it, until I was half way through........
Titchmarsh is a gardener. Milan is a dog man, and a VERY good one. Does Milan teach Titch how to grow daisies?
One has had the odd plant die, and the other has been bitten by the odd dog. Does that make either of them qualified to judge the other? Does it F...
Alec.
I loved his programme aswell.
People have to remember he doesn't deal with the easy natured sunny disposition dogs he deals with a lot of really aggressive types who need firm guidance and that maybe uncomfortable for some people.

exactly this. With some of the dogs that he deals with he is their last hope before the lethal needle, i think a short time in a shock collar to break certain habits may not be 'nice' but can be effective. Most problem dogs are caused by the actions of their owners, i'm sure there are plenty of owners that CM would like to stick a shock collar on instead of the dog! oh and for those that rage on about shock collars, do you use electric fencing for your horses?
i thought CM conducted himself very well considering how rude AT was!
The prong collar for example all the people who chastise him for that I presume ride their horses in rubber snaffles.
also just to add Alan kept going on about the fact you wouldn't treat children like that...excuse me but I got disciplined as a child and perhaps the reason why there are so many problem children is the distinct lack of discipline IMO we seem to live in a backwards society. I knew my boundaries and so does my dog! Just a though...

Very true and thats half the problem people treating their dogs like children, they even have a name for it furbabies![]()
I didn't see the AT programme so can't comment on it. Neither have I see any of CMs programmes though I have seen him live and thought he talked a lot of sense.
I was talking to the trainer at the training class I go to last night about dog behaviour and training methods. She has been running classes for many years, and said that in the last couple of years she is getting more and more "problem" dogs, the majority of which have been to previous classes who just don't seem able to deal with dog aggression or other issues. This trainer has had GSDs all her life and is not adverse to use of a check chain if need be, although as the classes she runs are KC good citizen ones she has to recommend half check or flat collars.
Too many people don't even seem to want to raise their voices to dogs nowadays, and some dogs are totally taking the p***. Walking along stuffing treats into the mouth of your dog when it is trying to kill every other dog it meets just isn't going to help the problem.

This is the first I have heard that people dont like CM, as a newbie dog owner (got my first dog 3 years ago) I have watched his programmes and feel like I have learnt alot by watching him, my dog is a total angel and it may be that I have been lucky but definitely feel that watching his programme has helped give me ideas and info. Not sure what I missed that made people dislike him?![]()
Maybe if he bothered to learn about dogs body language he would do beter, its very sad that people who call them selves dog people think hes ok.
prong collars, electric shock collars, alpha rolls etc etc all great training methods NOT
