Did I buy the wrong horse and what do I do now?

If you could find 24 / 7 group turnout then ride from the field you might find she is the horse of your dreams. Keeping a horse in a cage for hours on end week after week for no medical reason is not kind in my opinion unless the horse is worked daily. - wondering if your post is a wind up !
 
I’d say relocate her to somewhere with turnout which in the short term may mean grass livery. If it’s too far for you to get to during the week without a car there may be places where you can at least go & do things on a weekend with her (esp if you can find somewhere that’s on a bus route) or you could turn her away completely in the short term until you’ve passed your test and then look for a yard with both some facilities and daily turnout for her. Turning her away for a little while doesn’t mean you have to retire her forever if you don’t want to.

99% of horses would be majorly struggling by now if they’d been kept in since October. She may be a different “person” if you’re able to change her living arrangements.
 
You moved the horse in October so she’s obviously been at another livery yard you was able to get to. Why cant she go back to the previous yard if you was getting on well there? Does the
Previous yard have turnout?

Sorry, not sure if this response was meant for someone else, but it doesn't really answer my questions.

Anyway, if you possibly can, I would get her on a yard with some daily turnout, you may well find even a few hours would make a huge difference to her!

Oh ok that makes sense. When is it looking like your current yard will allow her to be turned back out? If soon then go with that if you definitely cant move anywhere else now but then id be looking to get her a space at a yard with some form of winter turnout before next winter!

Well, you state in a previous thread that your yard has a walker and a turnout area for over winter. That, coupled with twice daily ridden exercise, should make a big difference to your horse. You also state in a previous thread that there is plenty of opportunity for in hand grazing in the hacking fields. So it seems, from previous postings of yours, that there is actually plenty of opportunity to improve things hugely for your horse.

So realistically 4-6 weeks more of no turnout, and her behaviour in hand already sounds dangerous.

I think you need to have a serious talk with your parents about possibilities of moving her to another yard further afield.

If you could drive, are there other yards you would consider?
 
Have you explored ideas apart from livery yards - a farmer’s field, a local private yard - you might have to get on your bike or go for long walks, spot horses, find out whose land they are on. Knock on some doors or phone, and be persistent (but not annoying). Your horse desperately needs to be out before mid may.

As I said the horse won’t leave the yard just naps
 
I'm confused is there or isn't there a winter turnout area because when you replied to my post you said there wasn't a surfaced area to turnout over winter?

You may not now, but in your previous post you stated it was in existence- and presumably at the time of moving the horse you felt it was adequate, coupled with the horse walker, excellent hacking and plenty of opportunity for in hand walking and grazing. So taking all of that in to account (along with a good ridden exercise regime) your horse should be pretty well taken care of throughout the winter (in lieu of turnout).

Any way. I’m sure we wish you all the very best of luck with finding a new yard that better suits you and your horse. And I hope that you’re able to get more on top of her management soon.
