Difficult decision - keep, sell or loan?

Any views gratefully received please. I bought a 15.3hh rising 6 mare for dressage at the end of last summer as she had excellent breeding, ace paces and 6 months later have discovered she hates dressage (too boring) but loves jumping and she can really perform! I think it's a waste to keep trying to make her do dressage and I can't jump due to an old horse related back injury. She is already clearing 4ft and just wants to do more and more.

I have advertised her for sale but may have got the price wrong as although I had 6 replies only one came to view and they were timewasters unfortunately - the kid wouldn't even trot over a pole on the ground!

Should I reduce the price quite a lot or drastically or keep her for a while until spring / early summer and the market picks up or perhaps send her out on loan to a decent competition home (if I can find one) so she at least gets to go to parties? If she stays with me I am not going to be able to jump her much - I've been paying a good young girl to school her jumping recently but can't keep going on the costs front.

Any other ideas? (There's no issue about having enough room for her, it's just the waste of a great jumper and not enough funds to keep paying for her to be schooled by someone else).

I would keep her on the market for your current asking price but get her out and about to some SJ comps. I know its not what you want to do but it should help to sell her to a serious buyer if she is getting results rather than wannabee timewasters.

Ask to have the fact that she is for sale announced over the PA at comps too, you never know.

Where abouts in N'hants are you. I might have a solution

Have you go a link to her ad,then we might see something wrong with the ad.

Or just send her over to me, she sounds lovely.

I dont TAKE the horse, just school it at owners premisies and compete it when required. Owner has to get horse to comps.
Beds / camb is a bit too far to travel FOC

No cash necessary (seriously) just let me know when you are going to be there. Back in the days when I was very poor (as opposed to just scint now) the only way I got to jump was by doing exactely that.

Thanks guys - there does seem to be one common thread here about getting miles on the clock - it's exactly what she is short of (nothing else wrong with her at all).

TimeFaulter, I am south of Northampton on the northants / bucks borders about 10 minutes drive from MKEC. I like your idea about going to parties. My horsebox is in horsebox hospital at the moment but should be better again in a couple of weeks. Do you want to PM me with your contact details?

PS she is very well bred by Chairman (International grade A ridden by William Funnell) out of an event mare. Up for £6,500 including saddle. I am not sure how to do a link to websites but she is on Horsequest under allrounders and jumpers.

Just looked at your advert- think you need to get better photos TBH. Good photos sell! those jumping photos do not do her justice at all..

I totally agree. Step one, is need to get better camera! And skills to operate it properly. I'll see if I can borrow one and a person to operate it. Seriously, thanks for the feedback.

Deffo get a new pic!! I have know horses with less potential and older going for about that. To he honest I do not think that is a bad price.

Get her all scrubbed up. and get a day with some nice sun (if possible) Plait her up, sweat marks off, bit of show sheen, and use the sport/action function on the camera. Also if you us a pole to guide her in make it a bit lower as in that pic it is blocking her rear end.

A good pic makes a world of difference - I used a scruffy pic of my boy to advertise him for share and no one replies. I used one of him working properly and looking rather stunning and I got LOADS!

Shame she wasn't up here and I didn't have that amount going spare as she sounds like what I would be after!

Are you near Redhill?

Im in Kenley near caterham if you really want to get her out on the circuit.

PM me if you are interested

sorry ignore me i must have looked at the wrong ad

Think time of year also part of problem - I am holding off getting something (about 15.3 with good jump?!) for my teenage daughter who is competant at 1m+ and has jumped 1.10. But can't face introducing another horse to my herd at this time of year, fed up with mucking out, mud, haynets etc.

So even though I know I should start looking, I am hiding head in sand and waiting for weather to improve, my energy levels to pick up etc. But if you are going to Keysoe any time soon, could be tempted to come and watch...!

Probably would like to see a bit more jumping mileage on cv but to include tack seems fair price to me.
