Hiya guys so I just wanted some help on what to get to put in-between my horse and her next door neighbour as he is quite an aggressive horse eg kicking, trying to bite through the metal bars etc whilst I am in her stable and when she's in by herself. Fortunately the bars have too small of a gap for him to get his teeth through to get to her but its stressing my mare out as she is quite sensitive. The stable block is bottom half brick and the top half is metal bars and I was wondering if there is something on the market which I could put up on my side which could block him out from her seeing him. Any information would be of great help!

Side note speaking to the other horses owner about his horses behaviour is a no go.

Hi H. I had this a few years ago and found that, even with a barrier between the stables, my mare was really stressed out by her aggressive neighbour. If it is at all possible to move to another box then I would suggest you try and do that. Looking back at my mare's situation I still feel very guilty that I did not pick up on how badly the next door neighbour's behaviour affected her.

An old rug and some cable ties will do the trick to see if it makes a difference - you could then try a more permanent solution.

I would also try and move stables if possible, I love the bars in terms of socialising etc, seems a shame for her not to have a buddy if you are able to have her in a different box.

This is why I have wood all the way to the top on the back half of my stables and bars on the top in the front half!
.
yeah the bars are nice if you have horses that like company but some just need a bit more privacy from their neighbours. a combination is a good compromise. I have one that is better in a corner stable with only one neighbour otherwise she feels too intruded on.

I just used an old duvet cover. I cut it open along one side and put it over the top, and then fastened it at the bottom with some cord. Worked really well. Cost nothing and took about 5mins to do.

I have ply board up between mine and one of her neighbours as she really need her own space especially on her food side - my mares neighbour is the opposite - she's too needy and it winds my girl up!
