I had a flatwork lesson last night first in about 3/4 weeks and he was really good

Hes more consistant in the contact and we worked him quite deep to start with then got him to bring his head up, his trot is going so much better already considering i can only school on hacks. his canter is a bit better but is so big we are just trying to get him working more fowards (as in his trot) probably a bit faster than we would want in a test but shold hopefully enable him to carry himself better and work more fowards into my contact. My instructor is pleased with him and said how quick he is learning.

Its an awful long way to go and bending/going away from my leg isnt really there at all yet but hopefully now i he a good contact with him we can work on those

Now feel i can get my dressage saddle on him as my jumping one sits me too onto his shoulder and i need to sit more away from it.

Another thing my instructor mentioned is i may have to change my WOW dressage flaps as she thinks i will have too much knee roll (giant fixed blocks) does anyone else finding having so much knee roll a problem?

ooo and i am hoping to take him XC schooling again this weekend

I have the new style Wow dressage blocks which are bigger than the giant ones and they cause me no problems at all. Some people like big blocks and some dont, its personal preference really, i dont think you instructor can say whats right and what isnt as its you thats using the saddle, not her!

Hope the x country schooling goes well at the weekend - are you going to hopefully event him before the end of the season do you think? He sounds like hes coming on really well x

If Digby is anything like G, you will find the bigger blocks will make you feel like you are riding the saddle, not the horse!!! Sounds like he is really coming on though, well done

Look forward to seeing more pictures

thanks Tempi-thing is when i bought mine i hadnt really ridden in many dressage saddles, so next time i have a fitting i may well ask to try the others out of interest-i am always browsng ebay for saddle parts anyway as i wantto make 2 saddles!

thanks i am looking foward to taking him out and about

i was aiming to do an intro in July but it really depends o ow he comes on, sometimes i feel i could do one earlier than that. The jumping just needs to be done over and over to make sure we are finding it *easy* and the fltwork just needs lts and lots of work but at least i have a blank canvas i am hoping to take him out and do his first couple of dressage tests ina few weeks

havent been on here for a while and I think the last time I read your posts you'd not long had him. Sounds like he's coming on really well...the pics in your siggy look like he's jumping out of his skin, bless.
Good luck xc schooling, hope it goes well...

I also have the Giant fixed blocks and agree they are too big (for me) they encourage my knees up and into them. Am looking to change them soon.
