Scroll down a couple to Tycoon, yearling colt.

They really don't care what happens to thsi colt, they just want as much money as they can get.

I don't know why I look at this website, so many of the adverts disgust me.

i must be missing something here...but this isn't any different than going to a sale.

if his parents made 100k then its highly unlikely complete numptees would be bidding...

very nice little colt, BTW

Totally agree with you!

A good point, it is really just Appleby on line I suppose! Still don't like the ad for the yearling that has done road miles, but realise that is probably the norm for that type of horse.

was just about to say, no different than an auction but others already have

wouldnt get upset about Tattersalls yearling tb sales...and some of those go for shocking amounts, their breeders are in it for the money too, surely?

Good and fair point actually, just doesn't seem right on a website.

Many gypsies hold all their money in horses. It's not unusual for their horses to trade hands for this kind of money. The horse obviously isn't for sale on the 'open market' as such

Saw the add and while I think the wording is rather tastless I dont see anything wrong with it.

What did strike me as odd is given his build and feathers I would assume he is at least 1/2 heavy or a pure-bred (due to amount parents sold for) and I would expect him to mature at considerably more than 13.2hh. He looks about that now.
Or is there a small heavy breed I am unaware of?

I have been to see this lady and her horses as was helping out someone who was interested in vanners. She has some seriously good gypsy cobs and is very well respected by the travellers.

Agree it is a bit strange way of selling but from what I can tell people really do buy these type of horses without seeing, based on reputation and breeding. And I agree I doubt he will end up with numpties - these horses can and do sell for a lot of money so only someone who knows what they want will stretch to the price that he will end up going for.

She was also a very lovely lady, her horses clearly loved her including the stallions and she didnt seem overly money grabbing to me...

I would amagine for the money he will go for he will be treated like a king...I'd say he's quite lucky to have been born with such feathers

i think it will be vastly overpriced for what it is (and those feathers will be able to hide a multitude of conformation faults!) but i spose she is running a business and why not?

you would be surprised! There's a huge market for small hairy things and they go for huge amounts, esp. those with verified parentage. A lot of these types also get sold to america, where they like them the hairier the better, they also pay silly money for them. Because i'm in to my hackneys i often check out this site, and have bought and sold off it before, although i would say a lot of what you buy has done quite a bit for its age and they do benifit from a few months turnout when you get them home. however, i prefer a driving type like this as at least they tend to have good manners!
