Just wondering really - how far do you travel to your horses?

Is this everyday (if horses are kept on DIY/land etc) or not so often (if horses are kept on full livery)?

Mine are kept on land 2.2miles from my house - so are seen to at least twice daily. This gives me a minimum milage of 8.8miles a day. Looking into buying a house with my OH which is around 7miles from the field - hence would up the daily journey to a total of 28miles if we do move!

9 miles, about 15-20 minutes depending on traffic.

I go once a day, and they live out, but it is my parents farm so they check on them multiple times a day as well :)

2.2 miles, close enough to cycle somedays perhaps? Unless there is a socking great hill in which case it is pretty good reason not to :D 7 miles, hmmmmm, scrap the bike :(

Me?
Not far. Click if you want to be nosey ;) - this was a 4 or 5 years ago, had a bit of a face-lift since.

3 miles. OH or I go at least once a day, usually twice. There are other horses in the neighbouring field, their owner checks mine when she goes up, I do the same for her.

Hoping against hope that within the next couple of months they will be moving and I can say they are only 2 minutes walk away :)

6 miles. Around 10 minutes, give or take. I sometimes get there in 8 minutes. Normally go there at least 4 x a week if not more (horse is on grass), but just haven't had the time in the last few days.

sorry, again one of those with them at home. Measured it early..... 20 paces. In fact sometimes I could open the living room window and scratch their bums if my arms were a bit longer.

5 feet. They can watch tv through the living room window (and they do). When the cob wants breakfast in the winter she stamps on the metal manhole cover outside bedroom window to get me up.

Mine are 6.5 miles away. It takes 18 minutes one way. I desperately want to move closer as it is over an hour a day travelling as I go down twice a day. If I were you I would not choose to be that far away.

Due to a move I have recently gone from 3 to 25 minutes :(

Glad to report that I have now found a yard 5 mins from home and as I will be in this house a while that is ideal! Will be moving her in two weeks.

4 and a half miles, takes less than 10 minutes. I keep them on a farm and the farmer's wife has a horse there too, so in the Summer I only go up on evenings and usually miss one or two out, she is around most of the day and keeps an eye on them. In the winter I go morning and evening to feed if they are stll living out, or do all the duties if they are in for the night.

2.4 miles. The bike takes 12 - 14 minutes, depending on whether or not I'm late, the car takes 8 - 20 minutes depending on traffic. I go once a day, twice at weekends. It's bliss; I used to have a 35 minute drive each way :(

I love this - I can see my mare doing the same.

Ours are about 10 miles/15 minutes away and we go at least once a day. If they're stabled overnight then they get turned out for us by the yard (it's cheaper than the fuel would cost) and then we go up in the evening to sort them out
