Just had to park my car up in the neighbouring village as the police had closed the road on my way home. I spoke to a lady as I parked up and was told that a horse had been hit by a car 50 yards up the road and the vet had just had to shoot it.
I had to walk past the poor creature to get home, little dun pony only about 12-13 hands. spoke to a neighbour a bit further down the road who said that it had been trotted/cantered in the field opposite and had just run out into the road in front of a car.
Rider, driver and everyone else concerned is ok, no injuries etc. I just can't get the sight of the poor pony out of my head. I was hoping at some point to have a pony at one of the local yards, and I know this is likely to be 100% accident but it has really disturbed me.
