My only suggestion would be to set up some new rules along the lines of all animals must be turned out (weather permitting) for at least x number of hours a day.

Of course this all depends on how desperate you are to keep these awful people as clients??

I thought it was a wind up because a well managed yard would have done something about this situation immediately.....

Well as I'm obvs totally incompentant I haven't!!!
I work as a freelance groom I have worked for olympic eventers, groomed at 4star, and looked after grade 1s winning racehorses(yes they even won at cheltenham festival with me looking after them, oh and I have won over 100 BTOs racing) So I'm Obvs not totally useless!!
But I do suffer with anxiety/panic attacks and find dealing with confontation VERY difficult, this livery is not easy, she is twice my age and thinks I as im younger then she knows better.
So before you jump to conclusions saying I'm useless make sure you no the facts!!!!!!
The horses haven't gone without haylage or water, and I skip them out daily.

BUT ITS EASY FOR PEOPLE TO JUDGE ON A FORUM!!!!!!

:( You are so right. Sadly when you come here for advice, there's often someone who'll make a tactless and harsh remark.

I find confrontation very hard too. It comes from being sensitive. Some of the nicest people I know have problems with confrontation.

Ignore any unpleasant posts, there are many many more which are supportive and helpful! Good luck sorting this situation out. xx

I have a yard where I no longer offer DIY following a similar experience with a very rude woman who thought she knew everything! Claimed she followed Parelli & therefore wouldn't use a headcollar and led her horses around by with a piece of string round their necks, was often out of control and at one stage had her horses running around my neighbours garden!!

She refused to follow my rules and eventually I asked her to leave. It was a very bad experience but I am so glad I did it as I also hag started to avoid going out whilst she was there!!

Stick with your rules, you know you are right!! Good luck.

I feel sorry for you OP.

Id maybe call a yard meeting and pop a list of the rules on the yard notice board and say this is the new rules like it or leave.

Its not up for debate and if they dont like it tell them to give you their notice.

Some may give you it but once they ahve calmed down you may find a few retract it.

From being a Yard girl myself if ANY of the DIY's hadnt mucked out their horses I would have been on at them. If they didnt listen YO would have hauled them over the coals.

Not turning them out as they didnt want to come back up fair enough mines didnt go out Xmas day (the stabled ones) other than a potter round the hard core yard but they didnt suffer for it.

Well Man up and tell her to leave. You own the place for Godsake, not her. Doesn't matter how old you are and most of us don't like confrontation, and I have have more battles trying to sleep, because of this and that and what I want/like to say, kick up the arse, and is it legal to do/say that. Get rid of.

Kiribati, it sounds like she is relying on the fact that she can intimidate you so that she can continue to have all her own way without challenge. Been there myself and it isn't nice to feel so uncomfortable on your own yard. In the end I got so angry about the lack of respect that I snapped back when my nemesis made a snide comment one day and it completely changed the atmosphere. She was then on the back foot and left soon after, what a relief! Even saved me the trouble of giving notice :)
Yes, it has taken some courage for you to post the new rules, but each time you assert yourself it will make the next time easier.

I apologise, I thought this was your yard, I didn't realise you were an employee there.

Hopefully the YO will take control of the situation once you have fully appraised them of what's going on, and also give you some support.
