DIYers - what time do you bring in / turn out?

Out of interest - what time, and do weekends vary from weekdays?

Having moved onto a yard a couple of months ago which insists on horses being stabled overnight in the winter, I'm rather shocked at the amount of people who turn out around 11am and the horses are back in by 3? The entire stable yard being deserted after 6pm on a Saturday? Am I the only one who's up at 5am to turn out at 6, and tries to leave bringing in 'til 6 (hard when all the fields are empty!)?

Thoughts?
 
Weekdays they go out around 6am, and in around 6-6.30pm.

Weekends they go out any time between 7.30am-12pm becuase I will try and hack/ride/clip/faff in the morning, then bring in anwhere up until 6.30ish
 
Mine go out between 8am and 11am depending on if I am riding them or not. During the week they will be out till about 8:45pm but tend to come in at about 5ish over the weekend.
 
Weekdays out by 8 and in at half 3...yard rules :( weekends out by 7 and in at 4 ish! The amount of people who roll up to the yard at 11 on weekends because they are on part even thought their horseys have been out at 8 during the week drives me crazyy!
 
Although on DIY I still have to abide by the rules. The land here is clay and very wet, so the summer paddocks have now closed, the horses are all in at night now. I turn out at 7.30am and they have to be in by 11am. The horses are pretty much all put to bed by about 6-6.30.
 
Weekdays:
Out between 6.30 and 7.30 dependant on my ability to drag myself out of bed.
In between 2.30 and 3.00. Our yard has a rule that all horses must be in before 5.00 and as I finish work at 5.00 I cannot get there until 10about past so I have to spend my lunch hour fetching them in.

Weekends:
Normal weekends when not competing, I generally get to the yard about 9.00. The horses are no different despite having had to wait a few hours longer.
They come in at about 5 to 5.
 
Mine goes out at 7 ish during the week and comes in about 6, during the week I turn out my sisters mare so Connie has a field mate first thing. At the weekend sisters horse gets ridden in the morning so I have to wait for someone else to get up - normally can't turn out till 9ish and then everyone is getting in before it gets dark so I have to bring in about 4.30 which I don't like, but she won't stay out alone so I don't have much choice.
 
Out at 630 weekdays and in by 3pm
Out by 8am weekends and in by 3pm or earlier if I'm riding.
Several people don't turn up until 12 at the weekends and are amazed that their stables are filthy and their horses going stir-crazy!
 
Weekdays my Y/O turns out around 9/9:30 am and I bring in about half 6.

Weekends I turn him out, this can be any time after 9:30am depending if I'm schooling/hacking/competing.

Y/O brings in at the weekends so he's in about 4/5pm.

Horse seems very content with his routine.

I do agree about people not turning up til later although first person on the yard always feeds if Y/O hasn't already so they still get breakfast at a consistent time.

At weekends I turnout at 10am and bring in same as normal at 5pm. At my yard the first one up chucks feed over the door and those peeps coming up a bit later like me also leave a slice of hay under the feed bucket to throw over so horse doesn't notice they are in later still. I kind of understand bringing in earlier as often weekends are family time and so I don't see the horse suffering if they have hay. Plus it stops the horse pacing by the gate waiting to come in. As I don't have children and my family live abroad my bring in time stays the same. I don't interfere with how others manage their horses as long as the horse is healthy and not stressed so what it they are in an hour or so earlier or turned out a bit later?
 
Normally out by 8am in the week and 9am weekends but they are ready to come in at 3pm now and would rather get in than leave walking/running the fence line. There is not a lot to eat out there now so better to be in than stressed in the field. In the summer they stay out until about 6pm then ridden so to bed later. I used to be obsessive about leaving out as long as possible but now realise it's better to get in if they want to come otherwise they start fighting round the gate and injuries are likely to happen.

This is what drove me mad at my old yard & I'm so glad Im out of there. My horses were always in a routine, fed at 7/30 every day, why because it is the weekend do other DIY liveries think it is ok to leave hay & feed so that "those peeps coming up a bit later" can have a lie in, what if everyone came up a bit later? The first up will feed rule is fine if EVERYONE takes a turn, but sadly most people just take the pee & have a lovely lie in safe in the knowledge that another paying livery, rather than paid groom, will get up in the dark & cold & feed their horse.
 
Out by 7am in the week. In by half four or earlier if to be ridden. Out my 8am weekends and in by half four. I can not possibly imagine leaving her stood in until 11-12am on a saturday morning while I had a lie in. I would love to but would feel terrible. Do people honestly do that?
 
Made me laugh at my place today - owner of pony (that olive is turned out with) said to me in front of everyone 'just letting you know we are off out today so won't make it up here until half six/seven' I said 'oh ok' thinking to myself - why is she telling me this, I didn't cotton on and then she said - 'so if you would bring her in.....'. I thought fine but why not ask before now? What if I was doing something and had made arrangements for someone else to bring mine in would I then need to ask that person to do the pony too who was clearly my responsibility for the evening? Grrrrrrr.
 
My horse is out by 8.30 and in again by 3.30. I would love him to be out longer but there is very little grass and we aren't allowed to feed hay in the field so my horse is ready to come in for ad lib haylage
 
Depends on the weather. And our fields have hardly any grass due to farmer not providing sufficient grazing for the amount of horses (yes I am looking for alternative livery, but it's few and far between round here!). On a good day they will go out about 7.30am and my OH will get them in between 2 and 3pm. This week though the rain has been so torrential they have hardly been out - an hour in a morning while mucking out and maybe an hour or two in the afternoon when I have put them out at lunchtime and OH has brought them in a couple of hours later.

Yep, they do. One lady brought her TB in yesterday at around 3pm. She showed up today at 11.30am, by which time ned was out of food and going loopy. If it's yard rules then fair enough, but when you have ample grass and the weather isn't bad, I just don't see the reasoning (bar laziness)?
 
Mine go out at 9 everyday and depending on weather come in between 4 and 6.. A girl here drives me mad she won't turn up till 11 12 on a weekend and horse has normally finished his hay by 9pm night before so I have a least got her to leave feed so I can feed him when mine get fed then she wonders why his bed is a mess and he is banging on door
 
I turnout at 5.30am and bring in
about 6pm.
This is 7 days a week.
Our yard is pretty good at thinking if the horses whereas i have heard if people turning out at 11am.
That is terrible, and turning in so early.
Im always in the yard very early and very late.
I think of my horses welfare and fit my life around them!
 
Ah but merlinsquest the first one up is the YM who lives on site and its part of their job! Can't see why I can't have a lie in! What's the big deal? I'm sorry that to own a horse I must be knackered every single day? a lie in till 8am then walk the dog and finally turn out the boy is not a massive care issue. As long as the horses are happy and healthy.
 
Mine is out by 7am at the latest and in around 4pm during the week. At the moment they are all standing at the gate around 3pm. If it's pouring with rain he stays in but he doesn'tmind, is skipped out twice and is a clean boy despite being white/grey.
 
Weekdays out between 6.30 - 8am. In about 6ish for me to ride and put to bed by 8pm

Weekends out stable by 9ish for me to ride, in field by 11ish. In from field and put to bed anytime between 4.30 and 8pm depends on what I have done durin the day or what I am doing in the evening.
 
He's still out just now, but once he's in he'll be out between 6 and 6.30 and in about 9pm. I do same time at weekends, if its light and he's still in he gets really stressed. Though there's plenty at the yard that roll up at 10 or 11am, I just couldn't do it! I feel guilty that he's stuck in at all so keep it to a minimum.
 
No rules at ours so whatever suits :D

Weekdays - depends if I ride. At the moment I get to the yard for 6am and muck out and ride and then turn out about 8.15am
Bring in about 6.30pm - or if she is at the gate being a menace then someone will get her earlier

Weekends - I usually ride first, at the yard between 8-9am and she goes out about midday. Bring in about 5-5.30pm but does vary.
 
When i am normal - my routine only changes by about half an hour - so if they are out at half 6 in a morn during the week and in a 6pm on the night - then that is the routine i try and keep over the weekend - unless i am competing or something.

Its Christmas week i hate - when your taken as the muppet - that feeds everything as normal, and could you just pop so and so out, and change his/her rug.... and could you just catch in and then the avalance of requests come when they know you come back for late checks . . . if your up later "could you just pop in xyz" oh and could you top up the water....etc.

This year will be a big fat NO - as I will only just be out of plaster..... so will be struggling to do my own.

There is one girl i don't mind helping - we work as a proper team together - and if she says she will catch in a 4pm - she is either their to catch in - or will have called you to say - i am coming up early due to the Weather - do you want yours in now - or later

Which is why I said in my post that if it was a paid groom, or in your case the YM then thats fine as its part of their job. The problem comes when as on my old yard, it was other liveries, or mostly me, feeding all the yard while everyone else treated themselves to a lie in. If your horse has been fed & has hay, then of course he's fine & you can have a lie in, but as other posters have said there are plenty of liveries rolling up at 11am whose horses have not been fed, which is unacceptable IMO.
