Dizzy is lame

Ho hum

Yesterday I was really pleased with how the swelling was going down and that the little wound was dry and crusting over nicely.

Today I get a call from Friend (I was having a day at home with hubby).

Dizzy is lame. Wound is infected. Can't get to it to clean it up - Dizz not being a cow, just waving poorly leg around. I rang vet. Pulled hubby away from the Grand Prix (oh am I popular lol).

Antibiotics for five days. Bute for three days. Cold hose twice a day. Have left her in overnight as worried that she can't get out of the way fast enough, hobbly daft mare!

Knit one, purle one.

I feel your pain, I am only after finishing off looking after a friends horse for 10 days, As soon as she left her mare went lame , Cut infected and the work begins for me .

How about Manuka honey on it?

The Spooky Pony had a deep kick last Spring, and definitely wouldn't let anybody near it---broke the metal clip on a lead rope and actually fell over in his efforts to get away. I ended up softening the honey in the nuke so it was nice and liquidy, putting a big blob on a clean cloth, and just slapping the cloth over the wound before he'd had time to notice. By the time he leapt away, it was well covered in honey.
