Do I want another pony?

He's gorgeous. What will you do with him?

Some in hand showing while hes a baby, and then to drive. He will be 6 as bobbie is 11 and should be at her peak so I can bring him on alongside her. He also conveniently will be the same sort of size as Bobs so they can use the same carriage. And when you put it like that, I'm actually saving thousands not having to buy another carriage ???

I'm going to see him tomorrow afternoon. Once I see him I think it will be easy to decide. You either get that feeling or you dont.

Not read other replies but I would be saying no.
"half heartedly looking for a freebie or cheap project, but I've never been serious enough about any of the ones I've seen to actually do anything about it"
That doesn't sound like you are that committed to the work involved, but like the idea of it.

You still can't decide.
If he was the 'one' the thread would start remember that youngster I wanted last year, he's mine!

I'm not sure if thats a particularly fair comment! I like to take on last chance saloon ponies every now and again. I dont usually go looking for them, they tend to find me. Unless I have no horse I dont go out looking for one. FB stopping horse adverts has done me an enormous favour as I dont see many ads anymore ?? I dont think that is some sort of sign of lack of commitment though ?

We are also barely at the start of one of the wettest winters I ever remember, if I wasnt questioning whether it was a good idea or not, I'd need my bloody head examining! ??

And no, I cant decide. I still cant decide, I suspect seeing him in person will make the decision for me one way or another.

It's just a comment from a random stranger with a different point of view. Nothing more.

If I take something on, it's for life. Though I realise some people have projects and they go off to another home. I am crap at the letting go. And to an extent sharing/ splitting myself / time with another horse.

Wasn't it wet last winter as well? I can only guage it by how much hay we used.

Driving pairs, opens up lots of new possibilities for an expensive second carriage, scurry etc. Bring it on!

No chance of pairs! Its just not for me. I much prefer singles.

Hes coming next weekend. There wasnt much chance of me not wanting him once I'd seen him, which is why I wanted to think about it properly before I went. Hes coming on loan for 6 months with a view to buying him, which seems to be the best solution for my friend and me.

If anyone is looking his mum is for sale, back in foal to the same stallion, so guaranteed dun and wont grey out foal. Really good old bloodlines and really nice natured pony. Just really sweet and easy. If I was richer and didnt have to work I'd have taken her as well!

Hes so hairy, hes like a little bear! I'm used to my smooth, clipped bald pony so anything hairy is a bit odd to me! Hes such a lovely natured pony. Came in and stood quietly on the yard for over an hour while we chatted. He behaved better than my 6yr old would have done in that situation! Hes just a lovely, friendly, well handled boy.
