I can't believe what I am seeing with this advert it makes my blood boil. there are no words..

Wormed up to date apparently... with what thin air? poor baby, no doubt lives in someone's garden, looks in pain and looks like it has bad feet to me but you can't see them.
why don't they have a function to report the ad?
The site should be closed down it's just an outlet for people to sell their abused ponies it seems.

Oh that is just pitiful :( There is a phone number on the DD site, think I will ring up and report it.

It makes me sad and so angry but at least by advertising it the poor pony has a chance of a brighter future. I'm not sure how reporting the ad would help :(

I agree that this is a very poor looking pony, but just to remove one of your concerns, it has probably been trained to stand "parked out" like that rather than having sore feet. Poor little thing.

I also think he may have been put in that stance. His belly is fit to pop though, round worms?
I think the second pony is pulling back against the lead rope.

Hard to say what their natural stances may be like from those pics imo.

Speaking of being in pain, this one doesn't look too comfortable either. :(

I think it is planning on pulling back any second and making a run for it - look at its eyes and its body language, looks thoroughly spooked. Probably barely been handled. The funniest one I saw on there was a pony galloping past the photographer with saddle and bridle, but no rider. It looked to all intents and purposes as though it had just dumped someone.
I think the decent horses/ponies on DD far outweigh the occasional shocking ones.

If the first one was not a colt I would be tempted to go and get him, Although I have no room for another at the moment, why do they not just get them cut they would be so easier to sell instead they put it up for sale for £150 and hope for the best, poor little thing:(

Potentially yes, although it could very well have some degree of discomfort too!

knew what ad it was going to be before i even looked, seems those type of ads are creeping on FB as well, on our local group a woman advertised an 11 month old colt with pics of her toddler daughter sat on it with no hat on, when i queried why you would do such a thing i basically got told it was her pony and her daughter and so none of my business! ad got removed so i don't know if anyone else commented but it's almost like it's becoming acceptable because it is happening so often, people are so used to seeing it they no longer react. (apart from on here thank goodness!)

QUOTE: Lovely yearling colt, broken to ride and drive. Been wormed up to date.

Lovely natured, no faults, easy to do. Must be sold /quote.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if he is broken to ride, that means that someone have ridden this yearling, does it not?

Either way, I can't help but think that the harness he is wearing in the photos, looks like if it was bought it in a too big size, so that he would grow into it...

QUOTE: Red and white yearling colt, up to size. Would make ideal driving cob. /quote

Maybe it is just a bad photo, but to me, he certainly doesn't look happy. Besides, his colour, "up to size" and "would make ideal driving cob", that was really the best things they could come and think of, when they described their horse.

Horrible :(

If only I had my own paddocks at my house - I'd be rescuing them all left, right and centre. So far this year I'd have about 40, just from bad adverts and horrible Facebook posts alone!

This. I know of at least one reputable, trustworthy dealer who advertises on DD because it's cheap. She sold a super pony to a friend of mine, which several years down the line has always been exactly what she was sold as.

I have been to view youngsters from other websites which have turned out to have untreated umbilical hernias, dodgy history/breeding and other problems which weren't quite so obvious as the ones cited on this thread (although I do think that some posters enjoy being outraged and aren't quite so knowledgeable about what they are looking at as they think).
At least any-one answering those ads can see the standard of care the poor soul has had.
The trick to DD is to make a note of the dealers to avoid - made obvious by their photos and the wording of their ads.

I saw on FB some 'eventer' (never heard of them but they have the word eventing after their name!) has shared this advert and has asked for donations so she can go and pick it up and rehab him/let him live out.

News has obviously got through to it's owner, the wording of the advert has been changed.......

2 Year Old Colt - New
Two year old colt, been lightly broken. Been wormed up to date.
Lovely little pony looking for new loving home.

Thing is, it's not an isolated issue.
Further along on the same website are two 11 month olds, fully shod and broken to drive. And we have a mare we bought at 10/11 months old, also shod and driven flat out on the roads for at least a month previously.

He may have a brighter future at a new home, but selling for £150 the poor thing could end up anywhere.
I can't even bear to look for long. My youngster has just turned 1 and the thought of doing this kind of thing with my baby makes me feel sick to my stomach.
They are babies! And probably ruined before their life has really begun. Poor little mites x

Ive reported animals on that site before and i got told in very profane language to mind my own business.
