Do you ever drink alcohol on your Yard?

No never ....... but thats probably because all my previous yards didn't allow drinking on yards

.......tbh, since being on my own (renting a field from a farmer) its never really occured to me, but hell - next time its sunny, I taking a bottle of plonk with me :D

We did go on a friends daughters 18th birthday ride, which ended up with no-one being under the limit for driving  In fact the birthday girl couldn't get back on at one stop and ended up climbing up her 17hh mares leg! As far as I recall no-one would have a problem with YO/YM when they got back, as all kept their horses at home :D Oh and it was a fancy ride, St. Trinians :D

Yes we quite often do asados ( argentine bbqs) onsite which are great fun! Vino and cerveza (wine and beer) are an obvious addition! At other yards I have also had a sit down and glass of wine when we r all finished with the ladies, especially on a lovely summer evening :D

We have a few BBQs or other parties on the yard each year, which tend to involve alcohol, though not in silly quantities. :D And when it was so hot last Tuesday, I had a bottle of cider and gave the pony a bath. I had the cider, he had the soap. :p

I like the idea of a nice cold beer in the summer after an evening hack but it's too far from home to walk....might get some nice alcohol free beers in the fridge though.

If I'm not driving home, yes, have drunk during yard bbqs at previous places or had the odd wee dram while out riding. Don't tend to at the moment as sitting in a field by myself drinking sound a tad alcoholic :p Plus, I couldn't have food or I'd be mugged by the horses :D

my YM and another women smoke like chimmneys but they only every do it in the cabin where we all sit and they are always very careful to stubb it in ashtrays and would never ever smoke near the haylage or in stables etc. ive never seen anyone drink at my yard (i haven't) but before i arrived they had a bbq so they could have then, a few got a bit errrr tipsy :p at the xmas party though

If its nice we will go for a ride and stop at the pub for a drink and sandwich. We can turn the horse out in a small field next to the pub.

Again if it's nice we may have a glass of wine and play croquet. My yard is over the garden fence.

We have several BBQ's at the yard in the summer where plenty of booze is consumed, most people sleep in their horse boxes, bring a tent or even in their stables!!
We also have a Christmas show where we have a glass or two of mulled wine and on bonfire night we go down to the bottom field and have a bonfire and a few sips of something yummy to keep us warm...
Apart from that no!!

No, never, but I dont like drinking.

Ive been on some yards in the past where there have been BBQs, parties etc, though.

Well, yes, nothing like a cold bottle of Thatcher's Gold straight out of the coolbox after a hay stacking session. No smoking allowed anywhere near me and mine though.

Nope... Have to drive to our yard and I normally have the rugrats in tow...

Everyone is sociable but it's not a social meeting place... No bbq's or anything like that...

Sounds lovely! What a great way of spending an early evening now the days are getting longer! Think I'll take a bottle of vino up with me tomorrow and see if anyone fancies joining me!

My horses are at home so yes, the occasional glass of wine/ can of cider has passed my lips but I do draw the line at being totally bagged when working them or doing any horsy jobs- best get them out of the way first but can't see the harm if you're just relaxing on the yard and don't have to drive anywhere :)

I do however draw the line at smoking...asides from the fire risk, i would not want my horses breathing in tobacco smoke. I once visited a friend on a yard where 2-3 of the liveries and yard owner were smoking and swigging out of a wine bottle in the stables where all the horses were on shredded paper bedding. Was enough to convince me that my horses would not ever be going there....

The first time I got drunk was at the yard on Xmas day! We didn't get our morning break as usual and when we'd finished work we all went in to YO house for Xmas pressies and drinks!

My brother had to come and fetch me!

In the summer we often went on pub crawls on horse back - we had a good few pubs in the area so were more than merry by the time we got back to the yard!

Had the odd yard bbq with booze involved! no one got drunk, just a couple of cold ciders or beers on a nice sunny evening with friends. Always good fun and can't see the harm!

I have a bottle of port in my lorry at all times!!!

And now she has left I can admit to the flask of port in the trailer for nervous daughter at PC Camp when she was 16.:eek::eek:
She would have a sip before jumping, seemed todo the trick, doesn't appear to have harmed her or the pony, they're both still going strong, she's studying at Uni and hasn't gone off the rails...

we used to have parties in the indoor school and bbq's out in the yard in the summer where I grew up lots of alcohol was consumed. They were brilliant happy days :):D
