Do you have any horsey qualifications?

To the people who have a national diploma in horses management, can i ask what you learnt and has the qualification helped you in any way when it comes to getting work?thanks in advance

i have BHS road safety
BHS stage 1, took 2 but failed the lunging as was given a mental horse who just cantered round me despite my efforts!
Preliminary certificate in horse management
and National certificate in horse management ..... not sure these two exist anymore, took them 19 years ago at Plumpton college!!!

if i could go back to school/college, i would love to take a degree in equine science. that would have been perfect for me back then, i love the science side of it all, but it hadnt been invented! kids have so many opportunities these days. *sigh*.

BHS AI
NC in horse management
NVQ level 3 with NVQ 3 care of competition horse

All a waste of time as I cant afford to both work with horses and keep horses, would go back in time and chose a different path if I could.

PC B & H test
BHS Stage 3 & BHS Intermediate (teaching) - never went on to finish full II or take the stage 4 as left yard I was at (due to future - then - husband) :o

Used to do a lot of teaching, producing and breaking & schooling in subsequent years.......... now just a quiet YO enjoying life :)

An MDMU (Masters Degree in Mucking Out, 2:1), DIPP (Diploma in Poo Picking), a few bravery awards for broken body parts (incl one Gold star from a casualty nurse), one PADHBA (Patience Award Despite Horse Being Arse), and one from OH entitled BUWMWHH (Blocking Up the Washing Machine With Horse Hair)

...I knew I had some more - must have just slipped my mind

Riding and Road Safety
NVQ level 2 horse care and riding
BHS Horse Owners Certificates

All pretty irelevant for my career in IT sales but I found they were offering the NVQ course at my 6th Form alongside my A Levels & I thought it'd be a doss! I don't think I learned alot that I didn't already know having had horses my whole life and being taught the stable management side of things by some v experienced "old school" horsemen/women as a child. However these days I think alot of people people seem to skip the basics and jump straight in with horse ownership. I would definintely advise a prospective first time owner to consider doing their Riding and Road Safety and maybe their Horse Owners Certificates.

I have recently thought about doing a distance learning course of some kind (horse related) - just for fun really and to give my brain a bit of a work out! Anyone done/doing anything similar? I don't plan to work with horses yet but will always have my own and i'll maybe one day run a livery yard.

Best set of qualifications so far.......Thankyou Bumper !

Another BUWMWHH or in my case Dip BUWMWHaDH - Diploma in Bunged up Washing Machine with Horse and Dog Hair. OH was not amused by the £80 it cost to unblock the filter :-) Or his hairy work suit :-)

I have a degree in ***** shovelling (Bsc equine studies)
diploma in ***** shovelling (National diploma horse management)
NVQ1 and 2
BHS ride and road safety

and i'm guessing you can imagine just how useful i think these are... i really should have listened to my mother and studied law or medicine.... Lol

LMAO Bumper - great qualifications. :D

I think I managed to pass my C+ but that was a far as I got. University of life taught me that shoveling **** was not what I wanted to do for a living so learnt to type instead! ;)

If only I had been so sensible! I dropped out of doing business studies to go to study horses instead! Yes i'm slightly crazy!!! One day I hope to get my phd in ****shoveling!
