Just intrigued really as several people I know bring their horses in overnight once they have clipped them. Pidge was fully clipped 3 weeks ago and is still out at night in a fly rug, though has a sheet on tonight as came in covered in poo stains as had obviously rolled 100 times in some poo in the field, dirty horse so fly rug in the wash

No I keep my mare out fully clipped and rugged until the weather is really foul (and then it would make the fields a mess). She gets too warm to rug unless she is clipped.

Yep!

Barely leave mine out 24/7 at all tbh. They are out day/in night or vice versa all year.

ATM I'm planning on clipping one, and shes already wearing a MW.

At this time of the year, providing they are appropriately rugged, then I see no reason why they shouldn't stay out.

However, once the weather gets colder, and or wet then imo they should come in.

Is he really warm enough in just a fly sheet?

I clipped my boy last week, three nights this week he has worn a sheet which he has been warm as toast in. Twice he has been naked.

Tonight he has something a little thicker on as it has got colder up here. But he will stay out at night until the end of october.

Oh yes even when its dropped to 6. he's ISH with more TB than ID and is lovely and warm, when it was -11.5 last winter he was in a MW (200g) rug

This is him and as you can see he isn't exactly carrying much fat on him

P has been fully clipped out twice and will be done again before this weekend.

I will admit she has a lighter medium weight on overnight as they graze on the side of hill where the wind whips up from the motorway. Some mornings the temperature has been 4 degrees and there's not much grass there (although I do put some haylage out most evenings now)

I take it off in the day though. I'm keeping her out as long as I dare.

Archie and Mouse are both fully clipped and atm are out at night with just a light turnout on, when it gets colder and fields are mushed up they will come in at night.

Blue is full clipped, no rug during the day and LWTO rainsheet on at night.

Its still quite warm here so he is fine in that!
