Do you put your name on your things at the yard?

Just curious to how many people put their name on tools etc at their yard? I have my name on mine as others seem to borrow them even though they have their own which i don''t mind unless i need to use them at that time or they have been left somewhere and i have to go find them. I don't put my name on anything else though.
 
Nope....friend and I were saying just yesterday that this is the first yard either of us have been on in over 20 years (combined) of horse ownership where you don't need to lock everything away! We have 17 horses there but probs only 8 or 9 owners, I think only two of us have just one horse and I have 3....so nothing is ever too far away. Only time anything has gone walkabout was when a few previous liveries left...

I keep my horses at home, but mark everything with my postcode as soon as i purchase.

Should any nasty, toerags break into my yard, with any luck they will notice that everything is marked and very traceable....

Yes, I do. Most things that belong to liveries are identified by either names written on or coloured insulation tape. I have been on yards where if it's not nailed down, it is nicked - at my present yard it's more that the YO borrows stuff and I need to be able to tell what is mine when I go to retrieve it

Oh, nearly forgot, for a certain person, I leave a note inside my feedbin, saying "do not touch". Seems to have worked a treat, and only the person who opens the lid will have seen it.
 
that's a good idea niceweatheronly.

I mark my tools, but mainly because there are some 'yard' tools which anyone can use and it saves mine being borrowed by people thinking they are the yard ones when I need them. I don't mind people using them when I'm not there as long as they put them back in my place.

OH is trained to use my named tools or anything that isn't labelled as it's probably the yard stuff, he knows to ask around first though.

I dont label grooming kit stuff or anything else as it's always tidied away in my box in my stable. No one except my good friends would dare go into my box, and they would always say they had borrowed something. I leave nothing lying about.

Thats why i do it, also so i know which ones are mine. My schooling whip disapeared months ago though and i still can't find it

dont name anything, other than feed bin lids coz its dark at the top end of the tackroom!!. theres only 6 owners at our place. i own the poo scoops but everyone borrows. someone else owns the jumps, but everyone borrows. if they get broken, then whoever broke it, replaces. nice and easy. we're all friends anyway and never had any probs. we all muck in and help each other out during holidays etc. :-)
 
Yep everything or else it goes walkabouts. Even creams and potions, everything has my name on it with permanant marker

yep tools,. buckets rugs the lot! after my rugs kept ending up on yard horses, my buckets went awol, and my tools.. well the shovel is still missing, and to be honest i find it damn right rude to REMOVE and use MY tools when im on the yard about to muck out..

drives me nuts to be honest... oh hang on .. even my extension lead has my name on it after it kept getting removed from my tack area and random liveries using it....

fab now i sound like a complete possesive nutter! ... (im not honest)

oh hang on... one more.. my horse is good at being brought in /turned out given hay /water (chargable services) when ive not asked.... may be i need to put my name on her to lol
 
I put Dorey's name on things, but she's the only nag with purple belongings, so aside from the occasional lead rein, things don't wonder far.

Have had to hide my box of treats though!

The biggest thief on the yard, however, is my own mother! I go down there to see her proudly boasting how my sister's nag has grown enough to be wearing my rugs!
No wonder poor Dorey is naked alla the time... some blonde ponce has nicked all her rugs!
 
Yes, but not that I need to at my current yard, more just out of habit from previous yards! Also, if more than horse has the same thing (like a snack ball or calmer) it just saves any potential hassle.
 
No, buckets etc so they get the right dinner. Don't have my own tools (actually I do but noone uses them as they're not very good) as it's a part/full livery yard, so everyone just uses the ones that are there. Things don't go walkabout, apart from hoofpicks. Not that people nick them, just use them then don't return them to the right door

I have my name and my horses name and the yard address on saddle and bridle incase we part company out hacking, and my grooming stuff has my name on it, but that's just because it all from when I was 13

Not my name..... just a bit of blue electrical tape. Most peeps have no idea what it means! But I have it on the vast majority of my stuff!
 
Yep on everything, more for the reason that me and a few of my friend have same wheelbarrow, brush etc.
And also on grooming kits etc. because i have more than one horse.
 
I dont anymore, but when i was on a livery, things started going walkies - mostly shampoos. So i went on a mega mission and labelled everything!!

Then..... the pen went walkies!! :s
