Do You Take Your Earrings Out Before You Ride?

I follow the good old pony club rule of no jewellery at all when riding. Blooming good thing I do too! Had a really nasty incident a few weeks ago when my pony tried to roll when I was riding. I flung myself out the side door but as pony scrambled to her feet she stood on my left hand, breaking 3 fingers. She stood exactly where my engagement and wedding rings would have been had I been wearing them. Dread to think how much more awful that would have been, it was bad enough as it was!

Have never actually heard of any accidents involving ear rings, but after what happened to me the other week I think I'll stick to the old pony club rules just in case!
 
Nope! But to be fair, I'm only on very novice lessons once a week!

Over a dozen earrings, x2 nose rings, x1 tongue bar - all stay in.

As above, mine are all hinged and would fall out before hurting me, except the tongue bar, which is a risk regardless of how you look at it. Wouldn't be the first time I'd swallowed the ball bearing on the end of it.....:cool::o:eek:

It depends. If I am wearing studs then no I dont bother. However, I do have a liking for rather flamboyant dangly earrings (think Pat Butcher, but I am younger, a lot slimmer and red headed) for work, so will always take those out.

Apparently one of our male liveries has a 'Prince Albert' piercing. I dont dare ask if he takes that out before he rides ........
 
I hardly ever wear earrings anymore - only if I'm going out at night, but that's IF I actually remember :p
But when I used to wear studs all the time I never took them out to ride. I can't see there is much harm riding in studs? If I wore hoop or dangly earrings I would take them out to ride though, just in case!
 
I have those barbell type studs with a ball each end, they are super teeny and highly doubtful they would get caught on anything, and have just started wearing a nose stud again after it kept getting yanked out and me losing them, doesn't do any harm when it comes out but I certainly won't be wearing a nose ring!

Don't think I will wear a ring when I get Wed, much as I'd like to I am paranoid about rings!

Mostly I just lose jewellery all the time so I don't bother with it too much!
 
No, & only ever have when there's a rule to say so. I usually wear studs or small hinged sleeper size hoops, but have left dangly ones in. If I'm wearing a necklace & bracelet from work, just tuck them in my top. And since getting it done donkeys years ago I've only ever removed my belly button one when swopping it for a different one.

I just googled 'Prince Albert' piercing, ouch!

 
Nope, though i have silicone plugs in mine as they're stretched so would just come out if on the offchance they got caught.
I dont take out my nose ring, but thats so tiny it just bends when it gets caught. i dont take out my labret or tongue bar either.

Having had the job of collecting ring steward at BSPS working hunter classes for many years, I am no longer surprised by the number of people who feel it is absolutely fine to ride with a number of piercings. I am also no longer surprised by the number who feel that they should not have to remove them to enter the ring either. I don't have pierced ears, so that isn't an issue for me, I do however remove rings and tend to wear soft sports watches, to avoid injury, better safe than sorry, IMO
 
No, I only wear studs. I have caught them before when taking my hat off etc and for some reason mine just pull out - I've lost count of how many earings or backs I've lost cause they're caught and pulled out.
 
I wear tiny stud ear rings which I keep in all the time. I don't wear any other jewellery. When I was 18 I got dragged by a horse I was turning out. I was wearing a silver bracelet which cut into my wrist and I still have the scar 20+ years later as a reminder
