Yes I do. It might not look like it should be carrying it though, especially if fine. People tend to be a bit quick to criticise what they consider to be 'too heavy' people on 'ponies'.

I could ride one all day everyday, but I don't really like riding horses that small, whatever their breed.

Maturity is its age - both in actual years and also physical and mental development. Arabs mature later than many other breeds. any people consider they should not be broken to saddle until at least four and possible five.

I would say that a mature Arab should be able to carry 12 st no problem at all. They are a very strong, tough breed and were bred to carry adults in the desert. Bear in mind that a lightweight, inexperienced rider with a weak seat is much harder work for a horse than a heavier rider with a strong, secure seat.

I thought arabs matured quite quick, hence why they are also raced young. Also wouldn't it make more evolutionary sense for them to be fast at maturing? AND they are popular in America, where they are broken and ridden by 2, and so unless there is an arab breakdown epidemic, they seem to be doing ok, and so would again suggest a faster maturation of bone density?

Providing the arab is fit, mature, well schooled and with no back problems and the rider is competent and sympathetic I would have thought so.

Yep easily. Mine is 15hh and could carry 12st all day long - he b*ggered off through the new forest with my 13st OH once ( I had swapped to get naughty mare to jump and wasn't watching the boys!!)

The idea of actually riding a two year old anything (except maybe TB) I find a bit disturbing, but hey, whom am I to criticise our American cousins.
