Do you turn out TB's 24/7??????

Echo what Ziggy said, not all TBs are the same. mine is out 24/7 all summer although if it rains he needs a light sheet on, he makes such a fuss if he gets wet, will stand any amount of cold but sulks when it's raining, has to be seen to be believed really but I'm sure if he could open the gate he'd bring himself into the barn. I know several who do live out all winter, with good rugs, plenty of hay and natural shelter they do very well. Tbh I think they are generally happier out, the ones I know are certainly very chilled and easy to do. You just need to look at each horse as an individual, do you know how the one you are looking at is kept at the moment? Mine is my first horse after an 8 year gap and although I'm really confident on the ground I'm not particularly brave once on, we've had a few minor niggles but in the main he is a really honest and easy little horse, not spooky or sharp, just gets a bit edgy sometimes but the plus side is that he is absolutely rock steady in traffic which I'm told most ex racers are! Good luck.

my ex racer is out 24/7 352 days are year i just make sure she is well rugged well feed and when grass is gone plenty of hay!

I'd reckon that all horses can/could live out 24/7/352 but not all are happy to do so or thrive with that regime.

It's horses for courses as they are all individuals. As long as you do what is best for your individual horse then you can't go far wrong.

My TB gelding lived out 24/7 before I got him and he didn't do well. Now he's out 24/7 in summer but in at nights in winter and he put/kept on condition really easily and seemed to like coming into his stable for a night. My TB mare has lived out 24/7 previously too and is a good doer but due to how wet it is during winter up here I prefer her to come in at nights to get dry/warm/checked over and she's happy as long as she has her snack ball but if push came to shove she could happily live out.

All our ex racers live out all year round. One used to live out in the deserts of Dubai and he manages to live out with good hay, a decent rug and some decent feed despite being clipped. They allkeep their weight well and are happy girls and boys

QR - Why not? Mazzie was out 24/7 in the summer without a rug unless it really belted it down, and she'd come over here from Argentina. She was stabled in the winter though.
