Millie had known her name for a long time but it's only recently that I have realized that she will come when called.
Yesterday after hunting we fed her on the yard, as she was taking ages to eat (didn't like the yucky supplement
) I un-clipped her lead rope and left her to it. She wondered off to get a drink and when she had finished I called her and she came straight to me (baring in mind the feedroom/haybarn/field where all within her sights).
I then left her loose until we turned her out and she stayed near us grazing. When I started walking towards the field I called her name and again she came straight to me. I thought it was really sweet
Quite often I will leave her loose when I am haying/feeding the other horses and she will never go far but I didn't think she would actually come when she was called!
Charlie and Pixie will always come over to me if I go into the field but I wouldn't say they know their names, I quite often shout 'come on Trouble' or 'Come on you Silly Bugger' etc and they'll still come
So do your beasties know their names and would they come when called?
