I have had to 'hang onto' various strings of sausage in my dog owning lifetime...baler twined, wooly jumper linked, long pieces of grass to make the offering more attractive to veggies etc., but never, ever have I seen something like that presented to me! I would also have immediately assumed the poor dog was evacuating its entire intestine and probably have promptly passed out! 😂

He was squatting in front of me and I was planning getting next doors ‘mule’ and loading him up and getting him to the vet before he died. Then I thought on the whole he was pretty bright if he was actually shedding his bowel. I tend to catastrophise!

Seeing that come out, and think it's intestine doesn't sound like catastrophizing. As they say, if it looks like a duck, sounds like a duck, and walks like a duck, it probably is a duck.
Maybe even a Black Scoter Duck.

But as evident by this thread, sometimes the duck might turn out to be an American Coot

What a lovely bird,FL…never seen one before.

Clodagh..😳😳 glad it came out,I think a lab would be the end of me.
The worst we’ve had was seeing coloured plastic specs in my first schnauzer
’s poo….they turned out to be entire sewing pins..swallowed whole and passed uneventfully through the dog.I couldn’t believe it.
Now,after sewing ,I always hoover under my table …it was such a lucky escape.

Bumbles ate my daughter's Lindt advent calendar this Christmas. Despite all the chocolate, he was right as rain... except the poos came out in little round winnets, all neatly wrapped in red foil.

We had to count them. I had a panic when I could only find 17 out of 24.Turns out the daughter had been a bit previous with the openings of windows 3 to 6.

Neville scrumped 2 whole boxes of chocolate from under the xmas tree when he was younger (been sent by OH's Great Aunt and we had no idea chocolate was in the wrapped pressie). We discovered this several hours after the event. Luckily he had no ill effects, but his sparkly poos were appropriately festive over the next few days 😂

My middle dog ate a tennis ball a few weeks ago and nearly died (he must have gobbled it quickly on a walk, I do not keep the things in the house for that reason). A week later his kennelmate ate THE ENTIRE HANDLE OF A GIANT FLEXI LEAD and shat out plastic, rubber and whole-assed screws for two weeks. He is fine, mad yoke that he is.

Did the ball have to be surgically removed? 😳

No he threw parts of it up in the end but he lost a lot of weight. It wasn't presenting as a blockage as he was eating, drinking and in very good form.
I’m kicking myself for not realising Scout had swallowed anything, the only time he looked sore was when he suddenly stopped playing, I just thought Pen had taken him out too hard. Glad he was ok.
