How big was he? All the websites I have seen say he was a 16.1 trakehner which sounds quite likely to me. However my mum having pinched all my Facebook friends has posted a picture of him that she took when she met him, saying he was 15hh! This is duff information right?

Oh really? That's lovely, lucky you!! What a cracker, I would have loved to have met him. Thanks for clearing that up for me, I wouldn't mind so much if it was HER friends that she was feeding the duff information to!!

The Trakehner Verband will not approve any stallion under 15.3hh, so he couldn't have been 15hh. 16.1hh is about average for Trakehners - they are a medium sized breed, though many are big too.

I met him at Brighton beach when I was a kid. He was doped up to his eyeballs and we were allowed to feed him round slicee carrot. Not a great advert.

I met him at the Abergavenny show back in 1993. It was either my 8th birthday or a few days after so late June, early July. I spotted him coming back from a class, possibly jumping ring when I dragged my completely unhorsey parents with me to go and stare at him.
It was the best horsey day of my life, they had put him back in the lorry, probably to stop people pestering him I guess when they allowed a few people up the ramp to say hello. A man ( whos name I can't remember) said Good job you're small and picked me up and sat me on him.
Someone took a photo and I believe my mum said it was a guy called Graham Fletcher ( could be a coincidence) sadly we never saw the picture even though my parents gave them our phone number. But I remeber that day like it happened yesterday :)

I met him at Abergavenny show too :D was there for the PC mounted games but had to dash back for a pat when we finished!

Hope this might work, on phone so will have to fire up laptop if not

I was a Milton fan really but I wiped the loose hairs that came off on my hand from stroking him and kept them in a box  still have them somewhere! !

Lisnamarrow for me! I got to pat him at the Cheshire Show once. I didn't keep the loose hairs but I probably would have done if I'd thought of it! (Come to think of it, my dream horse is still a chestnut ISH with plenty of white...)

I met him at Driffield show back when I lived in East Yorkshire, we went with school which was amazing at the time and my horsey mate and I (aged 12, so would have been 1995) were properly starstruck - I had had Horse and Pony posters of him and Milton on my wall for years! I even got a little green and white rosette that had his picture on it saying "I met Cancara" on it - I still have it to this day!

I joined his fan club through Horse & Pony and got to pat him at the New Forest show. I still have the badge that says "I met Downlands Cancara".

I've also met the newest Lloyds horse, I think the name is something like Impiritor, he is stabled with The Devils Horseman stunt team in Bucks and I used to go to their shows when I lived just down the road in Milton Keynes, got some video of him rearing on command to the old Adiemus music.

The closest I've got is having the 'Cancara' The black horse rearing figure by Royal Doulton!
He was a stunner though!

I also met him when he stabled overnight at my friends yard- he was appearing at The Cumberland Show many years ago. Forst reaction on reading OP was that he was definatley well over 15.0hh! Which has now been confirmed by others :-)
