Does anyone not hack?

I don’t hack…
I also don’t have an arena so all of my riding is done in the fields (or occasional sponsored ride) ground dependent of course. I do try to keep is as varied as possible, with some days just mooching around the edges of the fields trying to mimic a hack as best I can. On the odd occasion my OH will come out on foot with me, or a friend will box over.
It’s a fear thing for me though! After a mini incident when I was a young teen I now hate being on the roads. If I had off-road hacking behind me I imagine id be out there almost every day! But I will not hack on my own, and I haven’t yet found a local hacking buddy.
this is something I do want to nip in the bud though, and will work on so that I can take my youngster out next year.

I used to hack alone and in company all the time.

Since I moved yards in June I have hacked twice. The second time was a disaster - she got so worked up and excited she bucked me off and gallopped home a mile down the road. Confidence has been severely knocked, and I also don't have a hacking buddy. I went with one of the YM the first time and feel bad to keep pestering. More so I can learn the routes, and if something did happen on the road.

Maybe will try again when I can lunge the sh*t out of her beforehand lol. Maybe a calming cookie or 2
