I'm looking to buy a synthetic dressage girth to replace my leather girth (sick of cleaning it in this sweaty weather!) but I really need a girth with a D ring in the middle to clip my breatplate on to. Seems all the leather girths have them but none of the synthetic :( I don't want to have to buy one of those loop things to go over the girth which allows the BP to be clipped on but it's looking like the only option!

Any opinions on good synthetic dressage girth?
 
You can get nice synthetic dressage girths (google 'lemico dressage girths' or 'memoform girth') but unfortunately they don't have rings attached (although the GP versions do :o)

Do you just want to be practical, or does it have to look smart too? If it only has to be functional then you could use an old flash strap perhaps? Or cut a stirrup leather short and punch an extra hole in it, if you want something wider/stronger? Someone who used to be at my yard bodged up her own by looping a D ring onto a wide band and sewing (by machine, so bit more robust than hand stitched) the end together.
 
Thanks for the recommendations :) those both look very nice for synthetic girths! The lemico almost looks like leather but I'm assuming would be easier to clean.

I'll just buy a loop, they aren't expensive I just find them a bit of faff!
 
I've just got a Thorowgood girth with a ring in the middle - it's not dressage but they might make one...
 
Professionals choice long girths definitely have a d ring - not sure about the dressage ones cos I've never seen them 'in the flesh' :D Fab girths though and would be easy for a saddler to sew a d ring on, as you can peel off the neoprene/fleece lining so you could get a neat finish without any pressure points, and then just stick the liner back on.
 
Check Thorowgood and they don't seem to have girths with rings :( got all excited on the prof choice website then realise the girth with the D ring was actually a cincher! Look like it'll be a loop after all :) the prof choice girths look good but they are quite pricey, are they really worth the money?

I think so. I used to have thorowgood girths for my jumping saddle but swapped to a profs choice and my mare immediately started jumping better and straighter. she found it very comfortable and the neoprene lining gives extra grip without having to overtighten the girth.

I have a leather albion girth on my dressage saddle but I'm swapping to a single flap jump saddle now so will be getting a prof choice girth for that asap.:)
