If you thought someones *problem* horse was actually in pain would you tell them?
Am normally one to mind my own business but as of late there has been a horse i know with alot of problems such as rearing/bucking/napping/very resistant. In the school it doesn't move forwards and is very resistant and goes round with nose in the air, any attempt to push the horse resuts in a full on rear.
Said horse will be trotting along happily out hacking (with other horses) then suddenly stop dead and try to rear or run backwards. Also does alot of fly bucking. Horse is grumpy all the time, never looks happy and can be aggressive on the ground with people - ie kicking out, hates people in the stable, chasing people out its field etc......
To me this horse is screaming am in pain.
The owners think its just naughty.
I have subtly suggested to maybe get the vet out to give it the once over and have teeth/back/saddle checked but they are determined its just naughty despite no further investigations.
I had a horse which was unhappy and had this horses certain traits but not as bad by far, turned out she had KS and had to be PTS as was in alot of pain.
I guess i should butt out but can't help but think theres much more to this behaviour than napping.
Owner is quick to dismiss anything i have to say about pain issues and i get the impression she thinks am a fluffy bunny

sigh
