If you thought someones *problem* horse was actually in pain would you tell them?

Am normally one to mind my own business but as of late there has been a horse i know with alot of problems such as rearing/bucking/napping/very resistant. In the school it doesn't move forwards and is very resistant and goes round with nose in the air, any attempt to push the horse resuts in a full on rear.
Said horse will be trotting along happily out hacking (with other horses) then suddenly stop dead and try to rear or run backwards. Also does alot of fly bucking. Horse is grumpy all the time, never looks happy and can be aggressive on the ground with people - ie kicking out, hates people in the stable, chasing people out its field etc......
To me this horse is screaming am in pain.
The owners think its just naughty.
I have subtly suggested to maybe get the vet out to give it the once over and have teeth/back/saddle checked but they are determined its just naughty despite no further investigations.
I had a horse which was unhappy and had this horses certain traits but not as bad by far, turned out she had KS and had to be PTS as was in alot of pain.
I guess i should butt out but can't help but think theres much more to this behaviour than napping.
Owner is quick to dismiss anything i have to say about pain issues and i get the impression she thinks am a fluffy bunny :(
sigh

vet ....

saddle/back/teeth done and then if nothing scope for ulcers......more common than people think! and just blame a "bad horse"...

Agree with Noodle! My daughters horse had the exact same symptoms was scoped had ulcers but also hindgut ulcers. Changed his feeding and he is a totally different horse

I agree with OP. Could you try to get someone else on your side to talk to them (who isn't a fluffy bunny in their view)? You sound pretty clued up to me!

Well done for trying and I hope you can them to listen to someone and get the horse looked at by a vet or other expert ASAP.

No smoke without fire...

However, know how you feel. Have been in same situation myself before. Deaf ears springs to mind.

I did this with someone whose horse clearly had a severe back problem. They wouldn't listen and continued to jump the poor thing and ride it several times a week.

When someone else eventually managed to get them to tall the vet out he had an old fracture in his spine, KS, and arthritis. He was 8. Personally I'd have had him pts but he was operated on and still looks uncomfortable now.

poor horse! hes clearly in pain! i'd seriously consider reporting to the rspca!!! if they can take horses like Humphrey away then surely they'd have to do something about this poor thing!

Yes pain, horses aren't 'naughty' without there being a reason for it.

I knew a horse very similar to this once and it turned out he had all sorts of problems too; SI, back, lameness etc.

Hopefully they will listen to you and get the vet out. Good luck!
