Well my bubbys been on the yard so many years shes used to many diffrent voices!
she pricks her ears at me...and the turns the other way!
However her late owner was a true horseman and EVERY horse on the yard responded to his voice just like that. Truly amazing!
My non horsey nanny came down the yard the other month, and i called my bubby and she didnt turn around and my nans goes "oh, she dont bother listening to you then!"
LOL:D
However if i call and have food..well its a diffrent story!

Only in the depths of winter when they're the only two left out, it's dark, it's late, it's cold, and they want in. Otherwise it's a case of go and find them!

Luna comes galloping over like a scene out of Black Beauty - usually screaming her head off at the same time!

Dulcie comes over in her own time...she sometimes has a chunner as she walks over and will come to the gate so i don't have to wade through the mud!

Welshie will always come when she wants to come in but other than that she will walk off。Arab is probably too thick to know either way. Gelding runs the other way, sometimes with leadrope with him :(.
They hate me.

In winter he's begging to come in! If he's muzzled in summer he comes over looking sweet in the hope I'll remove it. If he's un muzzled, no hope, in fact he will occasionally walk away in disgust at being made to leave his field :p

She will follow me anywhere and never leave my side :)

If i turn, she turns. If i stop, she stops. If i reverse at high speed, she follows and if i sit down she lays next to me. I love my bonding sessions with dee, we play together and its a fab time to interact with her.

I'm going to have to tell my horse she's a disappointment :p
In the winter she's usually waiting at the gate and in summer she'll come trotting or cantering if she's cold or hungry. Normally she just plods over though, and sometimes I have to go and fetch her. Sometimes she makes her way over so slowly that I go and meet her half way. She's a babe though, wouldn't swap her for the world :D

In the winter...definately. but this is just because of the lack of grazing and she wants her feed. Whereas in summer its a completely different story! It once took me and my dad 45 mins to try ans catch her and ended up giving up. She's getting better at being caught in nice weather...very very slowly though!! Lol ;)

Every gelding I've had has come to call but every mare has stood and watched whilst I have struggled through mud, slogged up a hill or been mugged by their fieldmates!
Markie plodded over during th summer, but, now it's winter, if he's not stood at the gate already, he charges down flat out. Quite a daunting, but impressive sight, lots of flying fur and feather...................and mud!

I open the gate and stand there while she dawdles... stops... stares... dawdle... stop... stare... Then she gets to me and does a pocket frisk.

Yes, my two, and the sweet little mare staying at mine at the mo (who belongs to another HHOer) all come over to the edge of the fence when they hear/see my car and then mob me when I get into the field. However although my old girl was not always so keen about being caught (she was always troubled after excessive stabling with her old owner :() I felt we still had just as much of a bond when I rode and handled her, so I don't read too much into it.

Every mare we've had has always come to call, or just when they've heard the gate/seen us. The only gelding we've had, we had to go and get even at feed time. He had a sense of humour and would sneak around his field looking like a bush in the dark, until we eventually found him in the place we had first looked.

The mares have always had to be trained that there are occasions when we don't want them. They are at home and in summer we go out last thing to check on them, they have to learn to stand and wait for us to go to them, having 4 mares converge on you at speed in the dark is no joke.
We often say 'Join up isn't the problem, it's getting rid of them that takes skill'.

Captain usually ambles down and puts his head down for his head collar. But every now and then he gallops down and skids to a halt in front of you, it is damned hard not to run away when 17-3 of WB is coming at you down hill!

Fany comes to call and wanders over in her own ssweet time, she never hurries!
