I would have once said that my mare mixed better with mares but didn't really have a favourite, although she was rather chummy with my friends chestnut mare and a liver chestnut too. She is a squealer and oftens paws with her front leg, but has never been a kicker.
Now we have moved and she is turned out with a chestnut gelding (thus ending the theory she was not a kicker with me exclaiming 'well she has never done that before'! *). He follows her like a lost puppy dog. She pretends to be uninterested in him now they've settled, but I can bet if he is brought in (other horses still out) she will stand longingly watching him walk away, and will greet him at the gate when she sees him returning too. I caught them grooming each other the other day, and when she caught my eye she proceeded to squeal and shoo him off. Clearly there is embarrassment in actually liking the rather besotted gelding!
So I guess from that she likes a redhead!
* ETA- No horses were harmed, just a rather pride broken gelding who suddenly wasn't boss anymore!
