So I have a yearling that I have always called Neddy but his turning out to be mischievous and his name does not suit.
His papers all say Final Reminder and thats want ill show him as. My other half wants his stable name to be DelBoy or Derek - he says I can't call him Neddy forever! Maybe it's just because his a baby I call him Neddy and he will grow into DelBoy.

How did you you decide on a name? Does your horse suit it's name?

I want his name to show his character.

My mare is called Chloe, she came with that name, I think its suits her diva-ish personality.

My gelding is called DJ (passport name DJ Capper), after his first owner, didn't really like the name DJ but it stuck! Showname Da Dealer (sire Lucky Dealer and grand sire Lightening Dealer)

This is Bertha... I think she quite suits her name lol

Doris was called Crystal in a previouss life.

I hated it. It would be fine on a flirty Arab mare but didn't suit a chesnut carthorse.

So I renamed her Doris. It suits her so much better. She's a dignified lady who likes to comfort eat. She's not one of these flibberty gibbert fly by night types. :D

Tank came with the name prince, but it didn't really suit him and tank did!! he's quite chunky and when we first got him he barged out the door a little, and was a bit bolshy, so tank suits him better!! :P

Mysti - yup because shes grey, magically jumps fences higher than her head and is a little monster :p
Honey - kind of does, she's a sweet mare and has little gold flecks in her summer coat :)

If you think of the name Ned, as in Ned Kelly the Australian bush ranger, then Ned could be a very suitable name indeed. Cheers.

My horse is Java or 'J' for short. Suits his quirkiness I think!

My 12.1hh Welsh Charlie definitely suits his name as he is a cheeky little thing like most Charlies are!

Milo my shetland again I think suits his name, no idea why though!

All of mine already came with names :)

My old boy did- Cheeky! He lived up to it 100%. People expected him to be a little fat grey pony, not a smart TB though! His show name was No Surrender which was even more apt :D

Reg suits his. It's cute and so is he :D

I love this thread :) Hehe mine is called Billabong Or BillaBOING as she is commonly known. She suits it down to the ground as she is a buzzy little person that has no end of energy! She goes into the field everyday and pings and leaps about as if she has been on boxrest for months!

Gypsy!! No idea if he had a name when he was with the gipsies, he was bought as a 2yo and I'm assuming they named him gypsy!

Always wanted to call him Oscar first though, but stuck with gypsy, despite the comments he gets  :D

Last mare was called Poutu, the french infinitive we think was "Poutre" meaning sunbeam we think.
She was definately the light of my life!

Current mare is called Buffy and yes it suits her. Much like Buffy the Vampire Slayer (:D) she is pretty, fine boned, but tough and takes no crap whatsoever! Oh and she most definately kills.... carrots :D:D:D:D:D

Unfortunately yes. I got jimmy and hated the name, tried to change it but it stuck because it suits him so well.

My girl is called ruby, i only call her that if she's in trouble. I call her roo which suits a lot better i think

Ned used to suit his name, when he was scruffy, dull and plain, but now he's beautiful and a bright red bay he deserves something a bit more swishy!
However, he IS Ned, there's no changing it now :P
